Graco Seatbelt Locking Clip

This works with all standard car seat belts, and all brands of child car seats. YOU MUST HAVE THIS if you own an older car and have a lap/shoulder belt-mounted child car seat or car seat base! YOU DO NOT NEED THIS if you use the LATCH mounting system. In most older cars, with a combination lap/shoulder belt, regardless of what kind of retractor or locking mechanism the vehicle has, if you don't use a locking clip (or if you have one and attach it to the wrong part of the belt, as I did until someone explained it) and you have an accident--or even just brake hard or turn to try to avoid an accident--your car seat or car seat base will likely pull the slack out of the lap portion of the belt and will get additional slack from the belt that goes up to the shoulder mount. What this looks like is the seat tilts away from the side where the shoulder belt anchor is, and toward the front of the vehicle, producing a twisting motion which is dangerous to the child's back and neck. What you want is (assuming your car seat or base is already strapped in securely first) to lock the shoulder belt to the seat belt BETWEEN THE TWO LAP ANCHORS, rendering the shoulder part of the belt irrelevant, which also keeps that dangerous slack away from the lap belt. This is the best and simplest design for this clip...just a flat piece of metal cut in a shape that allows the middle of two flat webbing straps (seat belts, in this case) to be slid in from one side, with both belts getting tucked under the "ears" that stick out at both ends, and the middle bar staying on the other side of the belts. Most car seats are supplied with one of these (look underneath or on the back of the seat for the place where one would be stored when not in use). IF YOU DID NOT GET ONE OF THESE WITH YOUR CAR SEAT OR CAR SEAT BASE, THIS COULD BE THE BEST PURCHASE YOU EVER MADE.

I absolutely love these clips. I use them not for a child's car seat but to keep the seatbelt off my neck. I put the clip on the part of the belt that fits across my lap then take the upper part of the seatbelt that fits across my chest and tuck only one edge of it under one of the Graco clips flanges. It pulls it far enough of my neck that it doesn't rub it raw and yet if I hit the brakes or an accident happened the belt would pull out of the edge it's tucked in and function exactly as it should for safety.

This is the only locking clip that I found that actually works for more than a day! We've had the car seat installed with it for a couple of weeks now and I haven't had to adjust it once! Awesome little device, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

So tired of losing these darn things so I bought a few extra, they do what they should.

The car seat we have is not Graco so I was initially hesitant on purchasing it. My husband is the one who suggested it. It ended up fitting just fine and it serves its purpose. I have no problem putting it on the seat belt and it holds the car seat secure.

Works great for older vehicles without latch system - holds seatbelt tightly in place to secure car seat... does just what it's supposed to.

I was so happy to come across these on Amazon. I was tired of scrounging around my friends to see if they had any extra after I lost 2 of mine. I finally bought 3 to have on hand and they were very inexpensive. They are the exact locking clip I was looking for. Great, great buy.

I purchased 3 extra locking clips for grandma's cars, etc. They're a great price and easy to lose or leave in a car so make sure you buy an extra or two.

It's a great product especially for anyone who has a car that is pre 2002 (prior to latch systems).

I'd had purchased a used car seat from a friend. It was missing the clip to get a better lock on the car seat. This was a perfect replacement.
