I am so happy with this stroller!

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS stroller is just right!, August 4, 2010
This review is from: Graco Vie4 Stroller, Betsey (Baby Product)
I am so happy with this stroller!

We were using the Chicco Cortina on loan from a friend for 6 months and had to return it as they are expecting their 2nd child in a couple weeks. We received a Jeep Cherokee Sport Stroller in Shock at our shower, so we broke that one out, but it wasn't comfortable for a 6 month old. I love the Jeep stroller and it will be great when traveling light when our daughter is about 18 months+, but right now she needed something more plush.

I was very sad to be without the Cortina and wanted to buy one of our own, but decided to shop around for one that wasn't so heavy and wide. I found this Graco Vie4 stroller to be just right. It is lighter, more agile, and narrower than the Cortina; but more padded, roomier and better equipped than the Jeep Sport.

Here is everything I love:
- The fabric is adorable and better looking in person, the flowers look Hawaiian
- The basket is better than the full size Cortina, longer and easier to get to
- The handling is zippy and silent
- There are 2 coffee cup holders AND a lidded cubby on the parent tray
- The child's tray can accomodate a sippy cup or juice box in the same hole
- I was able to snap it together in 20 minutes by myself without having to dig out the directions
- It reclines flat for sleeping and an emergency changing table
- It is much lighter than the Cortina
- The handle is adjustable for my tall husband
- The fabric is pink but the body is a nice cocoa brown which makes the pink it more subtle in person
- The canopy is large with a nice big clear porthole to check on baby
- The harness is very clever, the one buckle goes from a 3 to 5 point harness with sliding shoulder straps
- The harness straps adjust easily thanks to push buttons, no having to pull twice through a slide buckle
- The foot flap can fold up to create a bassinet, it also folds under the seat for more room on foot rest
- When the seat is in the upright position, there's a pocket behind the headrest I can stash a toy or snack
- It really does fold open and closed with one hand

Here are the things I wish were better:
- It doesn't fold as flat as you think it will, but I have a CRV and still have room in the back
- The canopy isn't designed to also fold in front like the Cortina, but if you don't secure it under the parent tray, it can!
- The Jeep has loops on canopy to hang toys, I wish this one did too so I made my own with ribbon
- I wish the buttons were pink or brown and not red, just the graphic designer in me being picky :)

I think a couple of the bad reviews here are because the poor people received a lemon, they should ask for a replacement. I think the gentleman who had the uncomfortable seat angle had a broken stroller since it sounds like it wouldn't unfold/open all the way. The gal who had a seat that wouldn't sit upright may have had a faulty adjustment strap. I am fortunate to not have experienced any of these problems.

Overall I highly recommend this stroller, especially if you get it on sale with the free shipping!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the price, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Graco Vie4 Stroller, Betsey (Baby Product)
This is my second stroller for my petite 10 month old daughter. She and I both love it. I was easy to assemble and all of the features are more than I expected. I purchased this stroller to take on vacation and it worked well. It fit nicely in the trunk of our Nissan Altima and left plenty of room for the cooler and luggage. She naps in it and it doubled as a feeding chair on vacation. The brown is easy to keep clean while the pink gives it the femanine look I wanted. I have not had the squeaky wheel problem, yet, but I did use some WD-40 on the axle as recomended in the instruction manual. I would recommend this stroller to anyone who wants a full size versatile light weight stoller for their daughter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stroller, great price!, June 2, 2008
This stroller is awesome... the only reason why I did not give it five stars is because it does not easily fold with one hand. In fact, I have not yet been able to fold or unfold it using only one hand... but that doesn't matter too much, it is roomy, rides very smoothly, is lighter than previous big graco strollers we've had, and the multi position recline is much better than strollers that only have one or two set recline positions. It works great with 3 month old as well as 3.5 year old. The adjustable handle is an added plus too. Overall great stroller!!

Loved the convenience and ease of opening and closing. Also think it is very mobile and sturdy. Especially loved to find it will "stand' on its own when folded up. This is such a nice feature when your hands are already full and it doesn't slide down while your moving it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!, September 10, 2010

This stroller is awesome, I just received it a couple a days ago, it is easy to assemble and it is very sturdy. I especially love it that it completely reclines back, especially since my daughter loves to take naps when we go shopping. When the shade is pulled out it seems as if she is in her own little private area. I love it! The under basket is really spacious her big diaper bad fits and so does my purse. It is a bit bulky, but I really don't mind as long as my daughter is comfortable in it I am satisfied with it. I bought mine from Wal-mart online and my shipping was free and it only cost me $65. I think this was a great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer, March 16, 2010

I have been very happy with the Graco Vie4 stroller in general, though I was a bit surprised at its size. It IS a full-sized stroller and it takes up the entire trunk of my Hyundai Elantra! Definitely not something I can leave in my car if I am going to go grocery shopping! A little heavy/bulky to maneuver folded, though can drag it along one-handed quite easily. The one-handed up and down is great, and it was easy to put together. Nice big basket below and space for 2 adult-sized beverages above is definitely convenient. Handles the cobblestones and craggy sidewalks in our neighborhood with ease--big enough wheels that it doesn't get hung up on curbs, etc. Sturdy, have not been worried about it breaking. My son is a bit annoyed that the seat back doesn't go to bolt upright position, though he is 7 months and can pull himself into the position he likes as long as we only have the lap strap fastened. Aside from the size, my only other complaint is the child's tray--I think the mechanism to allow it to swing is a little hard to operate, and I have to 'persuade' my son to sit back while I lower it into place. Would over all recommend it--works for the mall as well as around the neighborhood or park. Looking forward to several years of service!

2.0 out of 5 stars The worst stroller we've had so far..., May 11, 2008

and we've had quite a few of them.

I recently purchased this stroller and the Graco Metrolite for a trip to Disney World. I chose the Metrolite for my son and the Vie4 for my daughter. I would have given it one star, but I gave it two for the pink fabric.

This stroller does not fold compactly and neatly. It is very large while folded, mainly because the tray (that cannot be easily detached) sticks out from the stroller and takes up a lot of room in the storage area of the vehicle.

The worst part about this stroller is how the seat is slanted forward. My daughter spent an entire week at Disney World being held in her stroller only by the 3-point harness straps. It was very uncomfortable for her and there was no way we could fix it.

I wish we had bought two Metrolites. Those are awesome strollers!

I'd pass on the Vie4, unless you HAVE to have the girly fabric and your child will only be in it for short periods of time. Oh, and you drive an extra large SUV so there's room for the stroller AND other items in the back.

Apart from the stroller being bulky, my main drawback with it cannot be opened or closed using one hand. I have had instances where I had to put baby down or ask someone to hold her while i open the stroller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Stroller, October 20, 2010
This review is from: Graco Vie4 Stroller, Betsey (Baby Product)
I have been using this stroller for 8 months and I love it. I live in New York City and I'm out walking with it every day. It has stood up through the rain and wind and city streets, etc. and still looks brand new. The basket underneath is very large so i can fit a big diaper bag, my purse, toys underneath. If I do local food shopping, I can put a bunch of heavy bags underneath and then put her diaper bag over the handle bar without it interfering with me walking. It rolls very smoothly, and it is a breeze to make turns. It is lightweight enough for me to bring my daughter up and down the stoop stairs, rolling her one step at a time. I can't physically lift and carry it all up the stairs while she's in it, but my husband can. We don't have a car, but the times that we have used my mom's it does fit in the trunk with a little maneuvering. But yes, it takes up quite a bit of space so that might be a concern for you. Also, although it is not HARD to open and close it, you definitely cannot do so with one hand. With one hand I have to squeeze the red gadget on the handle bar and while holding that i have to use my other arm to get the front part down and locked in place. I've tried swinging it out hard to get it to lock but I've never been able to do so with one hand. My only other con is that the canopy should come down more. It goes up and down, but when it's down, if you're outside walking in the direct sun, the baby is going to squinting! Even if the baby is fully reclined or fully upright. I had to buy an additional sun guard that I strap on top of the canopy since I walk her every day. Even with that the sun still comes in but it is a GREAT improvement. I never thought about this feature because my sister has a Graco and her canopy extends farther down but this one does not. The handlebar adjustment is great. Just be careful when you put the bar down in front of the stroller. Once I pinched my skin where the arm hinge is and it hurt badly! I have to be very careful to watch my baby's fingers when I close it now that she's more mobile. It is very easy to go from upright to recline and you get to choose whatever angle you like by pulling a strap up or pressing a lever down. Finally I love the pattern. Very delicate but durable, not a pepto bismol pink. I really recommend it.

We like Graco products - we used the infant car seat and stroller base and own two Pack-n-Plays - so we decided to try the same brand stroller when our son was ready for an upgrade. It's a great stroller - easy to fold/unfold, sturdy, reclinable, holds lots of stuff. Easy to assemble. The fabric pattern is cute and stylish.
