I am a professional contractor, and I just started using the ProShot(Sherwin Williams) this year. For certain functions it is absolutely perfect (ie., soffits, facia, gutters, shutters, small jobs, doors, lawn furniture, exterior painting where a cord is inconvenient, etc...). Clean up takes about 10 minutes, but very important to be thorough.

Good up to 50 gallons. The Pro-Shot allows a $90 replacement of pump to allow for 50 more gallons. 50 gallons is a lot- for a quart at a time spraying capacity. *Note- some models do not have the option to replace the pump.

Ideal for jobs less than 2 quarts size, but I have used it for up to 2-gallon-jobs (if I can wait for a battery charge in between). Battery life is about 2-3 quarts per battery on full charge.

note- DO NOT use the disposable cup liners that are for sale as extras- they are hard on the pumps, and will lead to a premature wearing out of them. Just wash the plastic cups after each use, not difficult.

I bought this for small jobs like one or two window casings or door jambs when I still wanted the flow you get from spraying but didn't want to pump top quality expensive paint through a big long hose or drag the hose around a customers home. I've given this tool every opportunity and it has failed me every single time. I suspect the primary problem is that the batteries won't hold a charge, as the gun shoots in spurts and then quits. I've tried thinning the paint, reversing the tip in case there was a plug and even filtering the paint. Nothing works. I suppose I could try another battery but after the two that I have I'm reluctant to throw good money after bad. What is surprising is that all the other Graco products I've used, (full sized airless, gun, tips, etc.) this is the only one that has proved to be garbage. Of the $40,000 of tools I've purchased in the past 7 years this is the one that has failed me the most.

If you are courageous and decide to buy this I would suggest getting the ac powered one. But keep in mind that it also has a limited life following which it is a throw away product. It cannot be re-built. For more on this go to Graco's web site. They are very up front about the throw away aspects.

We use this product to spray a difficult to spray hydrogel called DeconGel [...] It is a very thick, wide viscosity polymer hydrogel that has the viscosity consistency of honey before sheer is applied. It is much more difficult to spray than thick paint. The GRACO Model 258864 sprays DeconGel 1120 exceptionally well and DeconGel 1128 moderately well. The features of DeconGel are such that it does not have a lot of particulate matter (solids) that can wreak havoc on a non-heavy duty cordless handheld. If you do a lot of spraying (long, daily use) using stains or heavy paints then this product is not for you as the particles in the paint/stains will wear out the internal components (i.e. they will wear quickly). However, if you use this sprayer for those types of jobs only once or twice monthly, you'll be OK. For products that don't contain a lot of solids, then this product can be used for long periods of time on a daily basis. For heavy duty applications I recommend you step up to an electric (Model 695 or better) or electric/gas convertible GRACO sprayer (like the GRACO 5900 which we also use). As always, pick the right tool for the job and you won't go wrong. I highly recommend the GRACO 258864 if used as described.

This is neat little piece of technology, sprays just like a regular airless, I haven't had any problems right out if the box spraying alkyd and urethane enamels, cleans up about as easy as a full sized rig,but you can buy a quart if high end product to do your small jobs and not be out gallon money just to do a front door, garage door,I've even shot cabinet doors and iron railing with this little champ. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the integrated tip and housing,I had to get a 415 tip it didn't come with for the enamel and at low$s was $39.00, and the instructions say the 2 battery's will do about a gallon,if you have to stop to move your coverings it tends to lose prime quickly, but flip the switch and a few seconds later, rock and roll again and it cuts down to 3/4 gallon on two battery's.There is a rubber plug you have to pull out to spray thicker materials and it feels like you will tear it off when removing and it starts to develop a weak spot in the plug but hasn't ripped yet.I have been a custom painter for 20 years and this is the best battery powered anything I have seen

I bought the SW Pro shot. The first one I went through 6 batteries. Graco gave me $125.00 credit on a new improved one that can be rebuilt. It quit after I ran about 3 gallons through it. It started acting up after a couple of doors. It is a handy tool but not worth the $849.00 total investment for the tool. Between the two sprayers I figured that it cost me more for the tools then I made off of painting doors. I missed the warranty deadline because I didn't have enough time to take it to major city and then had a medical emergency so I am eating the cost. I like Graco products but this one is not one of them Stay away It won't last.
