1.0 out of 5 stars Twin-Tested: Miserable Stroller
It's so bad, I had to buy another stroller! Seats have no padding compared to Graco's single strollers. It steers poorly and requires more room than most stores have for turning. 2 Snug-Rides fit poorly. The straps fall out when shild leans forward. It's much heavier than other doubles, it's awkward to unfold, the canopies provide very little sun protection and make it...

When we were originally looking to purchase a double stroller, we had debated on a side-by-side or a tandem. After all the pain-in-the-[...] stories we heard about side-by-sides being to wide to fit thru some doorways and how difficult it could be to get thru a childrens clothing store, we decided to get a tandem and we are SO VERY HAPPY that we did!! We have a newborn and a 2 1/2 yr old and this stroller is fantastic! There is plenty of room for both kids (I personally prefer the 2 1/2 yr old in the front seat and the infant carrier in the back seat for the baby). There is plenty of room for a diaper bag under the back seat, even when the back seat is being used with the infant carrier. Some people argue that this stroller is a little heavy, but for what you get out of it, you don't even notice (it's honestly not much heavier than any other double stroller, and it's even lighter than some). I have a van and I have no problems handling the stroller in and out of my van. It was very simple to assemble when I purchased it. It is also very easy to open and close (you can easily do it with one hand), parts don't fall off and it is really not all that difficult to get used to pushing around. It is obviously longer than a traditional single stroller, so really all you have to do is get used to the fact that it is just a little longer. I like that you can remove the trays from the front and back seat if you do not want them. The front umbrella shade is also very easily removable. I was also very happy that it accomodated my Snugride infant carrier/carseat that I purchased with a different single seat Graco stroller that I had for my first born. It was nice not to have to buy another infant carrier and another base for my car. My friend has children ages 4, 3, 2, 1 and she's pregnant with her fifth ~ this stroller has been a lifesaver for her too! We highly recommend it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Stroller!, November 30, 2006
This review is from: Graco Duo Glider LXI Double Stroller in Metropolitan (Baby Product)
I have 4 boys- 3 of them are 2 and under. And this stroller has been a wonderful stroller!! I got it when I was pregnant with number 3 and have used it since then. I love the 5 point harness on both the front and back seats. I love the big basket under it. And the steering is wonderful!!!! My husband and I both looked at a lot of strollers because we bought one, and none of them turned like this stroller! The front wheels turn so it makes turning so easy! I am short 5'3" and my husband is tall 6'3" and we both are comfortable pushing the stroller. This is a must have for anyone with twins or with children close in age! Great stroller!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great overall, minor drawbacks, January 11, 2007

This is a great product so far. I have an 18 month old and a 3 month old. I like the sleek and sophisticated pattern, easy handling, and convenience of this double stroller. I am 5'5", and my husband is 6'4". We both are able to maneuver this stroller comfortably and easily.

The minor drawbacks are:
1) The front tray/panel is diffucult to shut. I have to kind of bang it to get it to close. I'm hoping that it will get easier with more use.
2) Sometimes the infant carrier (Graco Snugride) is a little hard to get in and out. I have to wiggle it in, and to get it out, sometimes I have to push down on the carrier while pulling the release handle. Since there is an easy remedy and the infant carrier is a short stage in the life of the stroller, I don't consider this a big deal.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great when the new baby is little, June 16, 2007
This review is from: Graco Duo Glider LXI Double Stroller in Metropolitan (Baby Product)
I bought this stroller when I was pregnant for my 2nd child. My older son was 12 months when she was born. It came in handy at first... especially since I couldn't get one of those sit and stand strollers b/c my son was too little.
One problem I had was the graco infant seat we had was sometimes hard to get out... once I came very close to hitting my son's head (he was sitting in the front seat).
Another is once my daughter was old enough (5 months) she would scream b/c she didn't want to be in the infant seat and she couldn't see over my son's head when in the backseat. If we tried putting him the back he would kick the front seat.
And last but not least it is bulky. I have an Xterra and it takes up most of the back.
We know have the in-step double jogging stroller. They love it but I miss the parent tray.
Overall it was good when I had one in the infant carrier but now she is 7 months, can sit up and weighs 20 pounds it just sits in our storage unit.

My list of disappointments continues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate Solution to a Double Stroller, October 5, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Graco Duo Glider LXI Double Stroller in Metropolitan (Baby Product)
Let me preface this review by stating that it is my experience that all double strollers are a pretty big compromise between three main attributes - 1) stability as a unit to hold two children; 2) maneuverability when rolling; and 3) storage size/space. I have found that the side-by-side jogger-type strollers are unmatched in the first category (stability), yet fail miserably in the second (maneuverability), since they do not do well in most pedestrian areas and stores, and are heavier, wider and more unwieldy in the third category.

Thus, if you are looking for something you can stuff in your trunk and zip around a store or market, the front-and-back setup is the best option. Bear in mind, that you will not be able to tear around as fast and easily as you can with a side-by-side jogger, though. That being said, the Graco is a compromise between price and function. For the price, it is a fine machine to get the job done and then fit in your trunk. Of course, the trays, under-carriage nets and hoods are not as stout as some of the pricier models, but they still work. If you think you might use the unit for more than 5 years, it could be worth buying a nicer, more expensive model, however, your money might just as well be spent buying this unit and another side-by-side jogger for times when you will be outside in open areas.

4.0 out of 5 stars good stroller, March 18, 2007
By

We have enjoyed using this stroller. It was fairly easy to put together. We have a graco snugseat that we bought for our first child and it fits in the first seat but it's too wide to fit in the back. So our 2 year old rides in the back when we use the snugseat with the stroller. That makes it a little tight for her but nothing we can't manage. One thing that needs improvement is the tray that snaps on to the front seat gets scratched up on the ground when the stroller is collapsed to put into the car. So now we have a brand new stroller that has a tray that's all scraped up. Overall, we are happy with our purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars If I could give it a neg star, I would! :( NOT A TWIN STROLLER, March 18, 2007
This review is from: Graco Duo Glider LXI Double Stroller in Metropolitan (Baby Product)
I have last year's version of this stroller, but nothing's changed. This stroller is not meant for twins, it's meant for a toddler and new baby. When the twins became too big for their car seats, this stroller became totally useless, because the front seat will not safely hold a 9 month old child. The straps allow my son to pitch forward out of them, and slide through them left and right.

While they were still in their carseats, the front seat would give us trouble accepting the Graco Snug Ride carseat every time. The clips wouldn't click into place, and when we went to remove the seats to place them back in the car, they wouldn't release.

In addition to this major flaw, nearly everything on the stroller has broken, and everytime you go to open the stroller (a feat requiring two hands and a helper) you have to fight the basket from snagging on the wheels, the seatback for the infant seat from snagging on the frame, and the badly designed canopies from popping off. I can't even sell this on consignment because I wouldn't want to put another family through what we've suffered with this contraption. Oh, and it weighs a ton too.

We haven't decided what we're switching to, but I will be gleefully dumping this piece of dung.

2.0 out of 5 stars Monstrosity!, September 23, 2007
This review is from: Graco Duo Glider LXI Double Stroller in Metropolitan (Baby Product)
This was our first double stroller. I used to say, "what do people expect" when I read reviews that said these Graco tandems were big and heavy. You cannot possibly imagine how heavy, though, until you own one and have to work it when you had a baby 4 weeks ago and need to deal with a carseat and toddler and this stroller at the same time.

It is HUGE when folded, barely fits in the back of our Trailblazer. It is HEAVY, especially to lift up and out and up and in the back of a vehicle.

The only good thing was being able to use it with a car seat, but all the other downfalls make even this perk not worth it. The baby actually liked being in the seat itself as a bassinet better than being in his carseat anyway. I could not get the carseat back out without detaching the tray it attached to from the stroller either.

The canopies are stingy and fall off when folded anyway and the toddler and rip his all the way forward and push it all the way back. The trays come off when folded. It is not comfortable for the toddler when the carseat is in the back and you can't see the baby that well in the carseat anyway. The bars that keep the basket stiff are bent now due to the fact that they come unlatched, like they are supposed to for easy entry, when you fold the stroller.

It doesn't fold and latch well because the wheels turn and get in the way. It's all scraped up from the folding hassles. The seats and belts are not comfortable. The front seat is so shallow, although the toddler seemed comfortable enough.

It did steer well and turned well. The basket was very large and with the latch for easy access, did work well until the bars got bent.

For our money, I'd have been better off getting the $400 side by side Zooper that I wanted, which holds a carseat, than wasting over $150 on this and now feeling that I had to buy another $200 side by side to be more convenient and practical. Without using the carseat, we are better off with a side by side, as both kids can see and since the toddler can see his baby brother, he is not turning around all the time.

The bottom line is, if you can wait or do without the carseat holding capability and get a good umbrella side by side, do it. If you can't wait, get something else that will hold your carseat. But, save your money on this.
