I bought this walker for my baby when she was 5 months old. I had researched all of the available styles of walkers and stationary entertainers and decided this one would be best (only drawback was that it does not collapse) Everything was wonderful until last week (baby now 7 1/2 months) when she grabbed a stationary object and pulled the entire walker over on it's...

My son, Matthew, started playing in his activity center by his 4 month birthday, with assistance, of course. Now, he is almost 5 months old and today I caught him scooting backwards around the kitchen. We don't have stairs at our home, so safety isn't a huge issue, but this item has "kickstand" feature that make this walker stationary.

He loves the lights and the sounds he makes by touching the different buttons. His favorite is the orange handle that looks like a gearshift. He also loves to grab the big yellow star and put it in his mouth (like everything else) and the orange rocket has become a new fascination.

We weren't sure if he would become bored because in comparison to some of the other activity centers this one doesn't have as many toys. Watching him play by himself for 30 minutes at a time is proof enough that he isn't the slightest bit bored.

When he gets a bit overstimulated, or when we are traveling, another great feature is the activity tray comes off and goes wherever you do. I wish they would make differently themed activity trays so we could interchange them. The ability to have one base and several diffent activity trays would make this product by far the best on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Live Without This Product!, June 14, 2004

My father bought this for my daughter when she was 9 months old and starting to walk while holding our hands. Well, the freedom that this toy has given my child (and me!) is worth its price ten-fold! Looking back, I would have spent $500 if it was necessary to have this toy! It took a couple of weeks for my child to get the hang of it, but now my daughter cooks around our house and has a blast! I still walk with her, but when I need time to cook dinner or clean or just need a brake, I can put her in this walker and watch her laugh and have fun. She loves it because it gives her feelings of independence and allows her to go where she wants - not where we lead her to. I feel it's good for her self-esteem and also is great exercise! (My poor dogs however, hide when they see me put her in it -- she squeals with delight as she chases them all around! She's managed to coral them under tables, inbetween couches and has run over their poor toes on occasion... they're learned to hide though now!!!) I even use this toy outside on my driveway (park your car at the end of the driveway so there is NO WAY at all your child gets into the street! - You'll be surprised at how fast baby can move when they set their eyes on something!) This toy is great for when your child is bored with their stationary entertainer and is learning to walk. Helps with coordination, muscle development and allows their curiosity to grow! I just bought it as a gift for my pregnant cousin - it's great!!! I highly recommend it!

My son decided at 4 months old that all he wanted to do was stand. Being a particularly big boy, it wore me out to constantly have to hold him. I searched around, and found that I liked this, as it seemed stable, the sides and front acted like bumpers, and there are brakes on it, so if I don't want him to run off, he can't. Turns out that now at 6 mos. (20 lbs, 29"), he has expanded to cruising/walking all the time, but again, Mommy and Daddy can't hold him all the time. This does the trick-- it's the right size, and I feel safe with him in this. Of course, I watch him, but it allows him a lot more mobility than if I didn't have it. I can feed him while he stands in it, and he loves to run around, even though technically he can't walk without it. He loves being in it, and it has saved my arms and back from holding him up all his waking hours! It's pretty study, especially considering all the crashing into furniture he does! A great item.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have, December 7, 2003

We purchased this walker when our son was 5 months old, since he had started to stand up. At first, we were reluctant to buy it since we had heard that walkers were not good for infants, but I checked with my pediatrician and he said that if we supervised him it would be ok.
This has been one of our best purchases. From the beggining, my son started to tiptoe from side to side and now, being 7 months old, almost cruises the whole house. He follows us constantly (WITH A GIANT SMILE), runs from side to side, and goes to the things that we wants to reach. My son doesn't tire from it: I can place him in it 2 to 3 times in it, for 15 to 30 minutes and he enjoys it as if it were his first time.
He loves the activity tray: the star, the shuttle, the steering wheel, the spinning beads but mostly loves the gearstick.
I love that he gets a good share of exercise with this walker, that it strengthens his legs, that it entertains him, that is stable and safe and that it provides me a some freedom to do things around the house while he is on it.
About mobility, my floor is tiled so I do not know how it performs in any other surface and I have not used the brakes so I do not know how they work.
We absolutely LOVE this walker and believe that it is a MUST HAVE

4.0 out of 5 stars Mom again after 20 years, November 4, 2001

I have a six month old son (Patrick) and he is 95% in length (28 1/2 inches long). There are a lot of walkers out there to choose from but because of his height they do not give him growing rooom. I had seen and overlooked the "Tots Wheel Activity Center" because it wasn't portable. Besides the fact that it isn't portable, he already has an oversized entertainer (exersaucer), the Saftey 1st "Bouncing Buggy" which he loves. Because he spends his time while I am working between his grandmother and his aunt I decided to get a walker that we could leave in the car to transport between the two. Because he has been using the "Bouncing Buggy" I did not know that he was able to move around as well as he does until I started my search for a walker. I liked the looks of the Chicco "Taxi Walker", the Baby Trend "Luv Jet" as well as a few others; but, because he is tall these are not good for him. At the heightest level his feet are flat on the floor when he is standing as well as sitting; besides the problem with the height, the seats are not as roomy as that of the "Tots Wheels." He looks as if he can step right out of them if he could. There is no growth. I am giving the rating of 4 stars because it has growth for him (up to 32 inches). The sound effects are great as well. Althoug the "Tots Wheels" doesn't collaspe as the traditional walker's do it can be disassembled from the base to make it more transportable. There probably won't be any room in your trunk, but portable non the less.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Winner, July 4, 2002
By

I am very pleased with this product i purchased for my (6) month old son. I am also a mother starting over again after (14)years
and (5) grandchildren so i think I should be well educated in parenting skills.
I am very cautious with my son and always(Read Reviews On Line) before considering purchasing baby products
and then I monitor the safety of the product once I bring it home.
This walker is a 5 star rating anything less is just simple
(you cant please all of the people all of the time).
the activity tray has a variety of things which is the star and the space ship as toys, Then there is the Bubble Buttons which when pressed makes exciting sounds, the Steering Wheel when turned makes sounds,
Then there is a Horn Type Button on the Steering Wheel which also makes different sounds,
Then there is a variety of small buttons on the side and they as well have the sound effect. it also has a Gear that has a Motorized Sound Effect, a Mirror, Lights, and a Bubble Rattle type toy that spins,
The Wheels are Large and makes it easier to Roll On Carpet"
yet SAFE with the Parking Mechanism, and it has a handle like bar on the back to make it convenient to move from one room to another,
I found the Fold Down Walkers to be DANGEROUS and can COLLAPSE, I Need Safety Not Portability, And This Can Be Disesimbled pretty easily and transported if necessary, it just takes a few turns, and a pop on the tray and it is ready for use.
if you are a parent who allows your young children to push, play, or supervise your baby for you then the outcome is not promised with any product,
And you can not blame the Manufacture for your own neglect, nor beng untidy, Excuse Me For Fussing"
But I am a grandmother who would tell my daughter's the same thing!
This Walker is by far the best on the market. it is well proportioned for growth, and it is crafty,
HOWEVER" one review made an intersting point and that was the slipping on the notches on the legs which could well be, but i have not noticed it on mine,
And my son is a Hefty 27 lbs at (6) months,
So i find that this Walker is everything i needed and i am glad i brought it. "parents" I find eponion.com very helpful with reviews concerning baby products

4.0 out of 5 stars My boy's ride, October 25, 2002

I bought this item when my son was about 4 and a half months old. He already had a lot of stregth in his legs (which is important for this toy!). It actually helped him learn to sit on his own. Two weeks after he started using it, he had far improved on his ability to sit unsupported. Now he's six months old and he gets anywhere he wants in it. He seems to like the fact that this "spaceship" can make him mobile.

The toys on the walker are great. He's learning how to make it make noise on his own now. He loves the stuffed star that pokes up perfectly for little inquisitive hands. And when he notices himself in the mirror, he's face down in it for ten minutes straight. I also like the fact that you can take the play tray off and there's a transparent "window." He loves it when I poke my head underneath and he can see me there. He giggles histerically at that.

The only suggestion I would make on this toy is to make the wheels easier to turn on carpet. He can hardly move on the carpet, but can fly in the kitchen. Unfortunate for us that our kitchen is small and he doesn't have much room to move.

This walker is one of the pricier, but well worth it. I can't imagine why someone would want a "stationary entertainer" as an alternative. It's takes the best part away...moving!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, awesome, awesome!, June 6, 2003
By A Customer

Our daughter loves this toy! She gets in this thing and goes to town - quickly. She loves the freedom to get where she wants to go and loves seeing things she normally can't see. She's too strong for the brakes now though - they don't stop her anymore they just slow her down a little. Just make sure to baby-proof up to the new height...once we found out how fast she could maneuver we were scambling to move things. (and don't forget that the bottom of the walker can hit things - lamps, etc - and cause them to topple onto the child's head...didn't happen to us but it could have.)

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!, August 7, 2002

My husband originally bought this for out 4 month old son but he was too young for it so rather than keep it around ( it's rather big) we returned it. I had my heart set on one of the mega saucers because they seemed to have so many more activities but my husband re bought this tot wheels when my son turned 6 months. I'm glad he did! Those 2 months sure made a difference. He loves this "car". He zooms around the house chasing after the dogs and to watch him, it is hilarious. The car makes a sound like when a dump truck backs up and you would swear that he knows what he is doing. Everytime he backs up, he turns around and pulls the yellow lever which makes the signal sound. The dogs quickly get out of his way. It has a nice wide base yet is still maneuverable. The cloth seat seems to be very comfortable and it is easy to get his legs in the holes in the first try. The wide base also keeps him from getting into too much trouble by preventing him from reaching too far. The cloth star is a favorite feature that he loves to suck on. The wheels also go well over carpet. One draw back is that the mirror seems to reflect in his face sometimes & it also reflects the flash when you try to take pics of him in it. I would recommend this in a heart beat.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Product, but NOT a BABYSITTER!!!!, March 23, 2004
By
This review is from: Graco Tot Wheels V Mobile Entertainer Center (Baby Product)
What is wrong with all these "1 star" people??? I just can't believe that all the complaints are typically from people who think this is a "baby sitter" - nearly every single low rating is related to lack of supervision, not the product...by their own admission (pretty scarey).

Our 3 month old loves it, it's alittle beyond her ability to move around but I don't mind NOT "watching TV" while she's in it to ensure she can be wheeled around and have fun. No volume button is probably the only downside that I see, but you could probably just put a few layers of tape over the speaker hole to fix that for those who have sensitive babies.

To refute a few claims you'll read about:

Yes the battery compartment has a screw which is inconvenient, but it keeps babies from chewing on batteries/acid should they fall out from bumping into things.

Yes, if baby is allowed to chew on vehicle it could be dangerous - so we don't let them to chew on it....common sense.

Yes, it only has tape on the underside to avoid rolling down stairs - so we don't allow it to ever physically get to the stairs inwhich to fall down....common sense.

Yes, the AAP recommends stationary only and not walkers....this year....who knows for next year, they are a good guideline for the general public - but not the "how to" manual for every single circumstance, just a good guide for those above who have little or no common sense.

This is a great product and I highly recommend it, as long as you plan to FULLY SUPERVISE your child.....children pulling themselves over in it, head stuck underneath the spoiler, or other siblings swinging them around so they fall on their head is obviously not the intent for anyone (parents or manufacturer) - so if you plan to NOT supervise your child while playing, this ISN'T the toy for you!
