5.0 out of 5 stars It's Lye. It Works. Enough Said., December 29, 2009

It came on time, was in a sealed plastic bottle, wrapped in a plastic bag, and shipped in a box. I've used it several times to make soap and it hasn't let me down yet. I like the beads because they pour out easy. I would imagine powder or liquid lye would be much messier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great price, even after shipping!, October 12, 2010

I could have gone down to the hardware store on the corner and bought lye for my soapmaking, but even with the high hazmat shipping cost across the country, it was still cheaper to buy from these guys. The Buy-5 deal took $15 off and made the shipping affordable. The lye is great, dissolves well and doesn't leave caustic pockets in my soap. Fast service, good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars NaOH for soap making, January 18, 2011

This review is from: Food Grade Sodium Hydroxide Lye Micro Beads, 2 Lbs. (Buy 5 get 5 off)
I was in search of a lye source that was more reasonable in price compared to the usual soapmaking supply companies and I found it! (I have no idea what "food grade NaOH" is used for, though...)
Anyway, the microbeads are a great bonus - they dissolve easily and stay dissolved as the solution cools. And as far as soap-making is concerned, this brand works fine. The delievry was as expedient as the service-oriented soap supply companies, too.

We have tried several manufacturers of food-grade lye for making soap. This is, by far, the best. The lye dissolves completely with no residue or particulates. The price is a fraction of what others charge and delivery was inexpensive and efficient. This is the least-expensive source we have found and we are delighted with the product, in every respect.

This made the best "Laugen Pretzel" (lye pretzels) ever. No comparison to the wimpy pretzels made with baking soda. NONE!
Product is easy to use, measures and dissolves easily BUT it is a LYE and must be treated with respect.

Exactly what I was hoping for. I've never used the micro beads when making soap before - so easy! And the buy 5 get $15 off is a great incentive. Will order from this seller again.

The NaOH helped impart authenticity to our soft pretzels. It's going to take a lot of pretzels to use it up! I used 1 tablespoon in 1 quart of water for 12 pretzels, to get the proper coating.

Very clean pure product. Can't get pure product in the grocery store as Drano or Red Devil Lye anymore, they contaminate it with metal flecks, making your soap come out all wrong, and wasting your time.
