Book Description

Green Integer 2003
Here together in one edition is the strange and evocative "Pompeiian Fancy" by German author Wilhelm Jensen and one of the major texts of psychoanalysis in Freud's oeuvre, which discusses the role of dream and delusion in Jensen's work. This book, previously reprinted by Sun & Moon Press, has been the subject of many works of art and essays, including a recent show at the Getty Museum of Art by the noted French installation artists Anne and Patrick Porier.

Wilhelm Jensen was a German author of no great fame, but the response by Freud belongs in the large canon of works by the father of psychoanalysis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jensen Fairly boring; Freud as usual gratuitous BS but curious, July 7, 2011
This review is from: Gradiva: A Pompeiian Fancy / Delusion and Dream in Wilhelm Jensen's Gradiva (Green Integer: 86) (Paperback)
The contents of this book, both Jensen's book and Freud's exegesis thereof are in the public domain and available online, google on "Jensen Gradiva" (one place where it's obtainable from is bartleby dot com). Gutenberg has the German original. Check it out and buy the printed copy only if you like it (you may not). I got it because of the Robbe-Grillet film, not because I expected the book to be great literature (it isn't). Enjoy.
