Book Description

Some people grow up with the foundation of faith - thanks to their parents. Others find it later in life, perhaps in a single instant – like a flash of light. This book is written for the rest of us, for those whose spiritual journey started later in life and moved at a far more gradual pace.

Doug Wahl understands the struggle of searching for God. As an Atheist, he stayed away from anything dealing with church or religion...until one day he needed God.

Gradually to God is partly a memoir, but it is also a spiritual workbook for those trying to make a similar transition. You'll learn how to navigate around the hurdles and roadblocks that often times appear on the road to faith. And of course you learn about a God that won't let go or give up. In the end you'll discover that when you go searching for God, you eventually find yourself.

Praise for Gradually to God
“As the son of a pastor, I know all about 'conversion' experiences that give us bragging rights - when we can name the time and place our lives were dramatically transformed. In Gradually to God Doug presents an equally authentic approach to knowing God- that of gaining insights, confidence and faith that comes over time.
- Dan Miller, Author 48 Days to the
Work You Love

"Doug Wahl is passionate. He's passionate about life, about relationships, and most importantly, about God. In this book you will enjoy hearing his story of faith and doubt, joy and misery, and how these emotions affected his journey toward God. It wasn't always easy - it never is. And if didn't happen overnight - it rarely does. But in this raw and real memoir, you get a front row seat viewing of Doug's gradual steps of faith."
- Jason Malec
New Denver Church

"This a book with great insight into a REAL journey with God. It is a thought-provoking and honest book that shows believers and nonbelievers alike that God is listening and desires to have an ongoing relationship with us."
- Wade Morris

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Book for Anyone March 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is really inspiring. It is the story of a guy who is like anyone you know, who never gives a thought about church until he realizes that he can't do it alone. It is really an honest account of his journey to finding God and his stumbles and struggles along the way. It is very funny and filled with raw emotion too. I really enjoyed the bible verses that are at the beginning of each chapter to frame the theme of the chapter. It gives you the opportunity to reflect at the end of each chapter, and because his stories are so real, but also just about every day life, they really hit home, and you will find yourself thinking of things in your own life where you have experienced these same things. I think it would be a great book to read first, and then share with someone you know, who maybe has lost his/her faith or never known it in the first place. Doug is a regular guy, with a regular life, who has chosen to share his personal stories to try and show others the process he went through, in hopes that others will do the same. It is not preachy at all, and it tells his experiences so honestly that you can really relate to having had those same feelings at times. You will find it very insightful, and an insipring read. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gradually to God March 28, 2011

I would recommend this book to anyone. I especially recommend it to anyone who has experienced the butterflies that come from attending a new or different church for the first time. The stories in this book made me laugh out loud, as well as contemplate the realness of God's work in our day to day lives. It grabs you from the first chapter and is definitely worth adding to your kindle or bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Doug Wahl!!! October 9, 2013

I believe that everything is "on purpose" in life...and "for a purpose"...Maybe to learn from or to teach from or simply to accept, savor and contemplate. When I learned of this book, a semi truck had just hit my family head on (metaphorically speaking) and Doug, through his words, his teachings and his story, was waiting at the hospital when we were brought in....I for one am not a "big reader" yet, after this experience I have probably bought 12-14 books while searching for answers, help and peace....This is the ONLY book that I read in 2 sittings and didn't want to turn to the last page, for it would end. I am forever grateful for the way this book served as a comfort and form of healing from our devastating blow....It helped me to remember God is fully and totally in control and although I want sooooo badly to control the situation, He can do such a better job than I can. I strongly encourage and recommend reading Gradually to God for so many purposes. His God-given talent to entertain while being used by God with his faithfulness makes this easy reading and sooo worth the couple of hours it takes to complete...You will be blessed by it! God bless you, Doug Wahl....and may you always know your purpose!!!
