More About the Author

I write because people heal. And those are the people who fascinate me.

They heal from pinpricks and catastrophes. They heal seamlessly or with scars, hidden or visible. They heal in as many ways as there are things to heal from, then multiplied by the number of individuals there are in this world.

As a journalist, I witnessed moments of "injury" and frequently found myself asking "How does someone get past that?" - whether "that" was pinprick or catastrophe. That question is also at the heart of my stories. What my characters are healing from frequently falls into the realm of wounds most of us carry. That makes the healing no less fascinating and no less admirable than if a character has troubles few of us will ever encounter. (I am piling on with one character right now, and it's starting to make me feel a little guilty.)

I find people often heal from doses of humor, honesty, and being pushed into situations they've been trying to avoid. Since few people will push themselves into situations they've been avoiding (wg), the characters need friends, family, and community willing to push. So my stories have a lot of those elements.
That's why I'm most pleased that my readers say my books blend "laughter and tears" with characters who "live and breathe." I don't have the most focused writing career - contemporary romance, mystery, women's fiction, historical romance, nonfiction - but those elements unite my 30+ titles.

Some say my stories have happy endings. I like to think of each story as being the process of the main characters getting themselves to a point where they can have a happy beginning. Because they've done a lot of healing.

If you enjoy stories about characters learning, growing, and healing, with some humor, sometimes some mystery, and frequently romance, I hope you'll try my books.

Another thought-provoking Patricia McLinn winner! The third in the Wedding series, following the story of Grady, the third of college friends two of whom got married in Prelude to a Wedding (The Wedding Series Book 1) and Wedding Party (The Wedding Series, Book 2). The theme is of how childhood happenings form a personality, and how people should not be judged on appearances (hence, you should not judge a book by its cover). All wrapped up in love scenes, some steamy, some just romantic. It had me in tears in places, and lost in thought in other places. Definitely a book I could not put down.

Grady’s Wedding is my favorite of the trilogy which also includes Prelude to a Wedding and Wedding Party and although I highly recommend all 3, this one is the “pinnacle”. The characters of Grady Roberts and Leslie Craig are so well developed and play so well against each other, you can’t help but fall a little in love with them. Patricia McLinn, the author, does an incredible job of keeping her characters true to life, even when their personas are altered, she makes the transition very believable, climactic and often heartfelt. The most wonderful surprise is the way she slowly ‘unwraps” Grady Roberts, to expose the true man hidden beneath the façade of a cool, aloof “playboy” type. Though he is introduced to us as the friend stereotyped as being rich, handsome, spoiled, always “gets what he wants Grady”, this story takes you beneath the surface. Soon he slowly unravels to show hidden layers of fear, insecurity, loneliness and having emotional pain just like any other human being. Even his longstanding friends can’t see the level of his vulnerabilities, the way a woman who is looking at him with her heart can. Brava to the author for the incredible job she did portraying Grady’s feelings and his pov (point of view) as a real “man”. To me, it didn’t just come across as a “woman trying to write what a man would feel or say” – but seemed completely believable and true to his character. The emotions these two evoke, will take you on a wild ride of laughter and tears with enough romance to warm you from your head to your toes. The author gives you just enough “spice” to really feel the "heat" between them, but without “over-flavoring” it. This was a beautiful love story that had enough of everything to keep you enthralled and entertained.Read more ›

After reading this I realised that this was the perfect story for this character. In the other 2 books we have come to know this H as a bit of a manwh**e, without seeming to have depth. In this book he comes of age and slowly but surely begins to change. It's not a magical love at first sight romance and our h certainly has her struggles. I really did cry quite a bit in this book but it was so good. I also liked the way the author ended the book, it was fitting and right. I highly recommend all 3 books in the series.

This is the story of Grady the playboy who finally meets the one. It has all the characters from the first two books and McMinn has entwined them into this story as well. I have found a new author to read. Really enjoyed this series.
