3.0 out of 5 stars Easy but a bit too much wobble
It installs easily but the easy pop in adjustment leads to a bit more wiggle and wobble than my grandmother is happy with. It would be much better and more stable if there were just screws.

4.0 out of 5 stars VersaFrame Toilet Safety Rails, November 11, 2009

As a person with severe arthritis in hips and knees it has been challenging to rise from a seated position. The home I purchased recently does not have a counter next to the toilet in the master bath and the wall on the opposite side of the room was too far away for grab bars. Enter the VersaFrame. I'm now able to stand after using the toilet without the need to call for assistance.

Installation was very easy and would require only that the toilet seat be removed and re-installed (in most cases only a screwdriver would be needed). As I was also installing a new toilet seat, it took only an extra minute to install the VersaFrame. This went onto a ADA height toilet with elongated bowl and fit perfectly. With the built-in adjustments, it could also be installed on a standard-height toilet with round bowl or any combination of the two. In addition to the height adjustment, there are also adjustments for width. However, since the back of the frame is bolted to the top of the toilet bowl, the height adjustments apply only to height necessary for installation, not for the height of the person using it. The arms may be a bit too high for a shorter person, but at 6'3" they were perfect for me.

My only concern is that the arms are a bit wobbly side to side, but this may be minimized by using the narrower width option. Additionally, since most of the force will be downward, a side to side wobble would have minimal impact.

I put this rail on my 82 year old mother's toilet because there were no walls close enough for a grab bar. It was easy to install and works fine. Local stores wanted twice as much for the same product. Delivery was very quick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Safety Rails, April 14, 2010

I got this for a person with two broken ankles and needed support for a six week recovery. I found the rails exactly as advertised. I did have trouble removing and replacing the toilet seat bolts, but this was a problem with the bolts, not with the Safety Rails. Once I solved the bolt problem, the rails were easy to install and quite steady. One note of caution: the rails are not meant to provide side-to-side support. They will give way if pushed to either side. They give support only when pressed down to the floor, thus helping a person get up off the seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, May 21, 2011

THis product was easy to install and worked great. I had leg surgery and wasn't allowed to place any weight on the leg. Our toilets are low and the bathroom is not set up for bars to be installed on walls. This item is only for letting yourself down to and getting up from the toilet. THe stability is for putting weight straight down on the handles. Could not have made it without these!!

My husband installed the safety rails and said it was easy to do. It looks like it has a couple of adjustments for width but the height can only be adjusted depending upon the height of the toilet. My toilet is a standard size toilet with a round seat. The rails attach to the toilet (where the seat attaches) so you must remove the toilet seat first, attach the rails and the re-attach the seat on top of it. It's not really shown in the picture but the back rail has a flat piece that extends from the rail (which goes where your seat was attached) which makes it possible to place your seat over it. I am only 5'5" and I have no problem with the height of the handrails. As some have commented, the rails can wobble a bit, but since they are attached to the toilet I find the rails to be sturdy enough to help me get safely on and off the seat which is what it is meant to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Arms are a little high, June 4, 2010

This is a very nice, easy to install, support system. Nicely made, glad I purchased it. However, I am about 5' 10" and at the lowest setting, the arms are a little too high for me. I can still use it. Be sure to measure the height of arms needed before ordering. I would recommend it to friends who were taller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the rails that are separate from the raised toilet seat!, May 2, 2010

We use these rails in conjunction with a separate raised toilet seat (love the Etac Hi-Loo with Brackets, too). It works great, and fits perfectly, just clearing the distance to the toilet paper holder. The fact that the height and width can be adjusted is a great feature.

This simple frame has meant a lot to a man who is unsteady due to Parkinson's Disease. I would recommend it to any person who has balance problems or who is older and just unsteady. Well worth the money!
