THE racing game for PSone,
By RedPower (Kansas City, KS) - See all my reviews
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Okay, so it's a little old by now, but this rolls all over any racing game on PSone. Sadly, like most PSone games, the graphics aren't very good now. As I remember, GT2's graphics weren't even very good for their time. But the number and variety of cars is better than probably ten PSone racing games combined, and even the mighty GT3. It set a high standard which most games of even the next generation struggled with. The opponent AI isn't as lifelike as playing online, but at least you don't have some idiot constantly trying to spin you out. When one of those lame value-priced racing games shows up on shelves, I often ask myself why people can't just dust off any Gran Turismo game and have a lot more fun.

This review is from: Gran Turismo 2 (Video Game)
Yeah...yeah. I know I know... with each new console release so comes an updated version of a classic game, but how can you improve upon perfection? Gran Turismo is the greatest racing simulater period. THEY DID IT FIRST! The GT team brought us a racing game like never before. Realistic driving, and realistic cars. Before every other game developer jumped on the "simulator" band wagon Gran Turismo was doing it big. GT2 was the second adaption to their series and by far the best. This is Gran Turismo 1 supercharged. It's pretty much the same as the first game, but tweaked and tuned to be so much better. The cars handle better, the garage has some new faces, there's a few more tracks, but it's still Gran Turismo! If your really into "old school" games, or are just discover what we Old schoolers have known as "The Classics" this is a game not to be without. The later version of Gran Turismo seemed to have lost the magic that the original games had. It just feels like the developers got caught up in making the cars look pretty over everything else. That white knuckle racing feeling just isn't there. The first time I raced my GTS-R Viper against the Castrol Supra is Gran Turismo I almost fainted. Now playing modern day versions doing the same thing again just doesn't have the same magic. Thank goodness the disk are still around so you can see for yourself. Pick this one up!

SWEET,

I love this game, I bought this game the day it came out, and played it for over a year. My favorite race is with the audi TT, and when you win the race you receive a car worth around 125,000 credits. The only feature I never got to using was the car wash in the game, could never get a car dirty to use it. The graphics are old, but the game is still amazing. The soundtrack at the beginning is the best for all car games. The current best racing game, for me has to be Forza, I like it more than Project Gotham 3.
