5.0 out of 5 stars What a GREAT hard to find soundtrack
I had this soundtrack on my wish list for 4 months before it came out. When it was finally released, it took me 3 months for find it in a local store, and even then, they had to order it. Within a year it was stolen, and I've been checking local shops again ever since. I then turned to amazon as a last resort and was pleased to find such a low price. Some people...

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost there...
A nice complilation with many great artists and some good yet unheard songs. Rob Zombie, Creed, Garbage, Filter, Cardigans and Fear Factory are the ones that clearly make the album worthwhile. The rest are fillers but a good hear. The reason this is not a 4 or 5 star is because the song that is clearly the best was left out. Im no great fan of Stone Temple Pilots, but was...

Some people complain about the sounds of cars.... look at the title of the soundtrack, and what the theme is, DUH! Who's the idiot now? And to be "assulted"? Obviously you don't have enough brains to realize what a SOUNDTRACK is. A collection of DIFFERENT bands/music genres. Such great music, if only my drive to work were longer.

Im no great fan of Stone Temple Pilots, but was hooked when i first heard the song, and was dissapointed to know that it was not included in the soundtrach. Overall a good album if you don't already have most of the songs. Without Dragula, it might have been 2 stars.

Back then I was play station maniac and GT2 was one of my favorite games.
Game itself is great and soundtrack is the best.
Cardigans, Rob Zombie, Garbage and other artists are great.
This soundtrack is great for party's and it's great for anyone with great music taste.
I love this
Everybody should have their own copy of this soundtrack

3.0 out of 5 stars Still Not Bad, Several Years Later, August 21, 2009

This review is from: Gran Turismo 2: Music at the Speed of Sound - The Album (Audio CD)
One of the fun things about driving games like Gran Turismo and the Need for Speed series is that the makers of these titles realize how important music is to driving. Good tunes on a winding road are like icing on the cake.

While this is a good collection of songs, the Gran Turismo 2 soundtrack is, let's face it, getting a little old (almost 10 years old, as a matter of fact). You've probably heard the Fear Factory/Gary Numan re-work of "Cars", you'd be hard-pressed to have missed "Bodyrock" or "I Think I'm Paranoid" back when the Moby and Garbage albums came out, and if you've seen "The Matrix", you're definitely familiar with the Hot-Rod Herman remix of "Dragula". If you know Filter, you know "Hey Man Nice Shot" as well. Very little of this is new.

That said, there are still some gems here worth pursuing for the collector. The song "Unforgiven" isn't bad (and it's not Garbage, by the way--that's wrong. It's Creed), nor is Apollo Four Forty's "Rock the Mic" (ironically absent of any vocals), and "My Favorite Game" by The Cardigans (here incorrectly credited as Moby) has a very un-Cardigan-y electro-groove reminiscent of "Curve" at their best.

If you want some decent driving music, this isn't bad, if a bit long in the tooth. If you're a Gran Turismo collector, chances are you'll enjoy the bonus disc of extra content and downloadable codes (if they still work--I don't know). Either way, you can't argue with the price.

This is a great album and goes very well with the game, if you like the game you'll love listening to this while you're driving in real traffic or just taking those fast turns in your porsche. Even though there's not many tracks it's definately worth buying if you enjoy music that's not really mainstream I'd say buy it even if you haven't played the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Soundtracks Ever!, June 13, 2000

I first got interested in this CD when I went over to my friends house to see his new MP3 player. The second song on it was "My Favourite Game" By the Cartigans. I asked him where he got it. He told me his cousin got it for him of the Grand Turismo 2 Soundtrack. I always want to listen to it. It's great, but he never lets me. So I came here to check it out. It has some of my favorite groups and songs. I couldn't believe it. There are songs by Garbage, Creed, Rob Zombie, The Cartigans and more! This CD really deserves 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars They messed up the first two tracks, October 24, 2000

You may be wondering why I gave "Gran Turismo 2: Music at the Speed of Sound" such a low score. For some reason, the makers of this soundtrack felt the need to add the sound of cars from Gran Turismo 2 into the first two songs on the CD, which are by Apollo Four Forty and The Cardigans. On the first track, instead of hearing the song come up straight away, you hear the lame digital sound of cars revving up at the starting line and the countdown timer beeping away, and this is all recorded straight from GT2. Only after that does the song start. Then on the next track, My Favorite Game (one of my favorite songs of all time), the song plays through normally but after the song ends, there's a couple seconds in which you hear nothing. Then you hear the sound of a car from GT2 screeching off into the distance. All the other songs on the CD were left unedited. Not only did the people who put together this CD feel the need to add the sounds of cars into two of the songs, but they also felt the need to makes those car sounds be from GT2. None of this sounds the slightest bit realistic, which makes it even worse. It also doesn't help how all the songs seem to be in a completely random order so your constantly assaulted with different styles of music. It would have been a lot better if they had grouped together songs with the same style. This would have allowed it all to flow better. I advise that you just buy the CD's from the groups featured in GT2 that you like and that you avoid buying this atrocious thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing and Extra Songs, October 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Gran Turismo 2: Music at the Speed of Sound - The Album (Audio CD)
I own Gran Turismo 2 for the Sony PLaystation, and its an awesome game with a great soundtrack. As I was reading through the description of this title, I noticed there are a few missing songs, like Sex Type Thing by Stone Temple Pilots(the best song in the game, mind you), and a few songs added, like Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter and Cars by Fear Factory and Gary Numan. Other than the missing songs, this is a great album that I plan to buy. If you get this, get the game too. Its great!
