One of the Best Latino Sounding albums in English !,
By
This review is from: Gran Via (Audio CD)
Matt Bianco does it again with Gran Via ! Released in 1995 after the limited release of their U.S.A. project titled Another Place, Another Time (released on the JVC label). Another Place, Another Time is now out of print. However, anyone who owned that release will see a continuation of both theme and sound in Gran Via.Ironically, the ballad track Love Life which appears on Gran Via was also previously released on Another Time, Another Place... Matt Bianco no longer sounds like their earlier efforts of synthesized Samba with singer Basia. This time it's a more mature and natural sounding style of adult, contemporary, jazz-pop feel garnished with a lot of Latin/salsa influences.Mark Reilly's vocals are light but as always still deliver and suit this particualr style of music perfectly.

It's 10 years old and still fresh,

I listen to it everyday for 10 years and it's still fresh as a summer breeze.
"Lost In You" and "Day In Your Life" are classic Matt Bianco tunes along the lines of favorites like "Don't Blame It On That Girl" while "Victim Of Love" and "No Other Woman" are pop-ish ballads that will grudgingly put you in the mood for romance. However, my favorite cut is "Love Life", a perfect resort song, one will imagine breezy days on a white sand beach with a cool drink in hand watching the world go by. If you can't afford to fly to a tropical island, buy this album instead.

MATT BIANCO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS. SINCE 1985 I HAVE LISTENED TO THIS BAND ONLY TO BE FASCINATED EVERY TIME I HEAR ANOTHER NEW ALBUM. ALTHOUGH TOUGH TO CHOOSE, GRAN VIA IS MY FAVORITE MATT BIANCO ALBUM. IT IS FULL OF TALENTED AND SKILLFUL SONGS. MY FAVORITE IS TRACK # 6. I PLAYED THIS CD SO MUCH I WORE IT OUT AND HAD TO BUY ANOTHER, AND ONE MORE JUST IN CASE. TOM MCBRIDE

One of the 4 best MB albums (out of now 11!!), with "Victim of Love" one of their best songs ever. Ranging from House to R+B and Blues, their spectrum is just amazing and just shows what excellent musicians they are.
