5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT - Soft, cool, withstand abuse
These sheets are perfect. I wonder if some of the negative reviewers are mistaken about which sheets they bought! I bought this exact sheet set on Amazon (on September 23, 2005 - so says the yellow bar amazon shows me on the product page), and it is our favorite set. Much better than the $500 600-TC sheets that we had custom made.

These sheets are VERY soft...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great quality although coarse texture
These sheets are very good quality and fit well. They are much heavier than regular sheets. I was disappointed in the texture, which seems almost coarse. Not what I was expecting but still good sheets.

These sheets are perfect. I wonder if some of the negative reviewers are mistaken about which sheets they bought! I bought this exact sheet set on Amazon (on September 23, 2005 - so says the yellow bar amazon shows me on the product page), and it is our favorite set. These sheets are VERY soft. Just wash them a few times!

They are cool - don't mistake heavy for hot. I find the high thread count makes them "slippery" - sort of like silk (but obviously not silk).

I haven't had to be careful with washing. I've bleached them, tumbled them, high heat -- all of that. I haven't had them wrinkle because they always go on the bed or get folded while still warm from the dryer. They have been washed nearly 50 times (every week since I bought them and a couple of times before the first use), and are in excellent condition with no signs of wear.

I don't find them to be smaller than queen sized sheets as another reviewer said. They are just right for our queen bed.

I don't understand how anyone could be unsatisfied. I have stayed in many 5-star hotels and have never thought the sheets were better than these.

I really love these sheets! They have a great feel after being washed, weighty without being heavy. They have developed a nice patina and are extremely comfortable to sleep on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous!, December 20, 2006
I'm puzzled by negative comments made about these sheets, and agree with another reviewer that perhaps people are reviewing the wrong sheets.

These are 1000 count sheets. That's 5x thicker (and more durable) than anything *most* people have slept on. So if people are saying that they're stiff, I would say that they're not stiff, they're thick.

We washed them and put them on last night, and they were wonderful. I highly recommend this set to anyone and everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good price for such heavy sheets, October 4, 2005

These sheets are very sturdy, but not a soft as I would have thought. I like them very much, especially for the price. One thing... the product description for the king set indicates it has standard pillow cases and so I ordered a set of king size cases. As it turns out the description was wrong; the set comes with king cases.

4.0 out of 5 stars These are nice!, April 12, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these sheets based on the other reviews I read. After washing and drying and putting them on my bed, I was disappointed. Although nice, they weren't any nicer than the 350-count Ralph Lauren sheets I had been using. I was thinking maybe the other posters had been sleeping on really cheap sheets for them to call these "luxurious."

However, after washing and drying several times, I have changed my mind! Wow, these just get nicer and nicer each time. They are soft and wonderfully thick--very substantial sheets. I love slipping between them at night. I just ordered another set.

They ARE prone to wrinkling, but ALL high thread count cotton sheets are. It's only when they mix cotton with icky polyester that sheets don't wrinkle. If you remove them from the dryer immediately, the wrinkling is minimal and most of the wrinkles come out the first time you sleep on them anyway.

I gave these sheets 4 stars instead of 5 because, although advertised as an "oversized" top sheet, it is too short. I can't tuck in my sheets at the sides at all--only at the foot of the bed. I have a regular king mattress of standard dimensions, so there is no reason why the top sheet is too small. The fitted sheet is fine, though.

I definitely recommend these sheets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not What We Expected, But Better, October 21, 2005
Note: Since writing this review we realized that we have the 1200 thread count The Grand sheets, not the 1000 thread count.

As others have noted these are not softer as some 400 count sheets can be but are rather thick and stiff. You could probably put a bend in them like a tent and have the top stand three feet off the ground without falling.

We were so confused that we doubted they were really tightly woven but when you try the blow through test (where you put the sheet tightly over your mouth and try to blow) it is near impossible to blow any air through and we are convinced (without getting out a magnifying glass and counting) they are very tightly woven.

We thought about returning them but they weren't too much and we're lazy so we just tried sleeping on them for a night, and another, and another and...well you get the idea.

It is hard to describe what it is like sleeping on them because we've never had another sheet set like them. When we've used 400 thread count sheets, however, we generally find they are so soft they wrap around your body and limbs rather than lay over you. The 400 thread count sheets also don't breath very well. Thus, you tend to get a little hot which can be especially bothersome if you sleep hot at night like a lot of men do.

These sheets, however, tend to somehow please both sexes in our bed. It's embarrisingly hard to explain but somehow their substantial feel is both warming and cooling. The substantial weight also gives a sense of luxuriousness that we've become rather fond of.

Contrary to what you might expect, they don't feel too stiff or harsh. They are smooth, though not necessarily soft, and have a hand (feel) to them that is hard to describe but immensly satisfying.

It may be similer to the intangible satisfaction one gets when they close the heavy door of a well built luxury sedan.

Well worth it at more than twice the price; these are a bargain and well worth a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Deal, November 24, 2005

This review is from: The Grand 1000-Thread-Count 100% Cotton Queen Sheet Set, Ivory (Kitchen)
Sheets are sateen finish but are a bit heavier than what I thought 1000 thread ct. would be, but they are smooth and wash well. I think that I would go to 600-800 thread ct. for my next choice. The hemming is well done and the top sheet borders and the case borders are sewn neatly and did not snag nor pucker when washed. I'd buy the same brand again. The delivery from Amazon was super fast and I had free shipping too.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1000 thread count sheets, November 8, 2005

These are the most wonderful sheets I have ever slept on. They are worth every penny. I am ordering another set for my self and one for my mother in law. Yes they are heavy...thats what I'm paying for, 1000 threads per inch. No problem with washing if you follow the instructions, cold delicate cycle, low heat dry. This is definately the BEST PRICE to be found! And yes, comperable sheets would set you back hundreds of $$$$.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE these sheets!, November 30, 2005
If I had the money, I'd buy another pair or two... As far as sheets and towels go, I like to buy quality, not quantity - I'd rather have 2-3 set of quality sheets than 10 sets of mediocre sheets.

I was VERY PLEASED as soon as I took these out of the wrapping. As others have said, these sheets are very heavy and even after washing, have a subtle sheen to them. (I own the white.) Originally, I wanted to purchase the 1200 thread count SATEEN sheets, because I wanted that sateen feeling, but went back and forth because according to Amazon's description, the white sateen ones have this lavender sheen to them (even bought a pair at TJ Maxx and noticed the darn lavender sheen on those too!) and that would NOT GO AT ALL with my bedroom colors. THIS pair is pure bright white and exactly what I wanted. I thought I'd be compromising since it's 200 thread count less and not sateen. NOT AT ALL. I love the feel of the sheets against my skin! Super smooth, cool and crisp. What also pleases me ridiculously is KNOWING ALREADY that these sheets are going to last me forever. You just know after feeling them (which is a big downside to purchasing online- you can't before you buy!) that they will get better and better with each wash. I've paid a lot of money for sheets before and they didn't age well and/or ripped, etc. Even with two little ones under 3 yrs old in and out of bed with us all the time, I fully expect that these sheets will last us in excess of 10 years. They are luxurious and at the same time durable. They remind me of the feel of our Italian Frette sheets in our SoHo Grand NYC hotel room (and our room was $650+ a night!!) And hey- you can't go wrong with white and little ones- you can bleach anything out!
