4.0 out of 5 stars I liked my first one so much I bought a several more!
I bought my first one of these desks for my guest room (only 12 x 10). 3.0 out of 5 stars Be Prepared to Rebuild This Desk
The desk is attractive and reasonably priced. However, I immediately noticed four serious manufacturing defects. First, there was a huge gouge (1"x2") in the keyboard facing. Second, the metal guide along the side of the keyboard tray was severely bent. Third, when I pulled opened the keyboard shelf, the face piece came off in my hands. Fourth, the keybard shelf had...

I bought my first one of these desks for my guest room (only 12 x 10). I needed a desk that would accomidate my 19" monitor but, had a pullout keyboard tray and matched my natural wood decor and floors, without taking over the room. I also live in the southwest so the style fit in with our existing decor plan without breaking our budget. It was pretty easy to put together (30 - 45 minutes) with very simple tools. My first one has served me well for about a year. The only problem is that I need to tighten the frame as the keyboard tray slips off occasionally. There is only minimal room for paperwork, books, etc. I find it excellent for my needs of surfing the net, paying bills, and propping my feet on while watching TV. I would rate it a 5 if there was no way to hide computer cables. A back panel that extends most the way to the floor would really have helped. I hung a towel the color of our walls behind the desk and that does on OK job of hiding cable running from the CPU to the monitor and they keyboard. Mousepad space is tight so I put mine on the keyboard tray and increased my mouse speed. Target has several other Mission style furniture items that match the desk for reasonable prices. I bought 2 smaller computer desks that have room only for a monitor for our second computer and my my computer at my office. They also have had 2 different styles of matching shelves. I bought (4) 3-tier shelf sets and (1) 4 tier shelf set. The best thing about these shelf units is that they come assembled. You simply fold out the shelves and thats it. These shelf units are amazingly sturdy. Finally I bought a desk organizer that fits onto the desk reasonably well.

Second, the metal guide along the side of the keyboard tray was severely bent. Third, when I pulled opened the keyboard shelf, the face piece came off in my hands. Fourth, the keybard shelf had already split when they attached the metal guides to it. I can fix most of this, but even for this [cost, it] is unacceptable.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent value, June 30, 2005

For under $100, this is a great desk. Unlike most other pieces from Target, this is made from solid wood pieces, not veneered particle board. The packaging, however, is inadequate, and damage can occur during shipping, so you may want to visit a local Target.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid design, good instructions for easy assembly, December 28, 2006

Great value. Excellent instructions with all parts correctly labeled. Couldn't sleep, so I went down to the garage at 4:00 AM and despite the fact that I was in fact half asleep, I was done in 45 minutes winding up with a well built desk. Hardware included extras! A small but classy detail. And just to play along I actually did loose one cam-loc nut behind the bench. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Desk!, September 27, 2006

This desk is awesome! It is made out of SOLID WOOD not the cheap pressed cork wood from cheaper `discount' products. Trust the saying "You get what you paid for..." and for this case this is a good buy. The shipping was fast it took about 5 days to come by UPS. Despite the box the desk came in was beaten up the parts of the desk inside where in great condition.

The desk needs assembly and the instruction booklet took a while to figure since it was mostly pictures. Each part was labeled well so it was very easy to put together and I did it with out using any power tools and it took me about an hour to finish the job.

The style of the desk is very nice for small apartments. It sits against the wall and doesn't take up a lot of space. I would recommend buying this desk especially if you want a desk that isn't bulky and solidly built.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Mission Computer Desk - Natural (Kitchen)
I am very pleased with the desk. The only complaint I would have was the assembly. The instuctions were alpha/numeric coded, however only one piece had an imprint, so it took sometime determining which piece was which. But, once put together, I am very satisfied. It is not too small, not too big. just what I was looking for!

I and my wife needed a new desk for our 2nd computer to go on about 9 months ago. We already have several Mission style pieces and the price was reasonable so we got it. Setup was very easy, the real wood finish goes great with our other furniture, and this desk is big enough for a 17" or 19" monitor. I would give this desk five stars but for a broken screw clamp which let the keyboard tray sag (fixed easily with some wood glue).

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, September 19, 2005

A good solid desk that fit perfectly into my son's room. It was fairly easy to put together although the instructions were quite vague. If you have never put this type of furntiure together before this would be a poor one to start with. My only complaint is the packaging. It arrived looking like it had rolled down a hill. The nice UPS driver and I checked it and it looked unharmed but after it was all together I found a small damaged spot and the keyboard runner was slightly bent. I was able to push it back into alignment. I would feel better about recommending this if it were packaged better and the instructions were clearer. However, my son is very happy with it and it is quite sturdy. Plus it is inexpensive so I'll give it 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great purchase, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Mission Computer Desk - Natural (Kitchen)
This computer desk is very well built and easy to put together. All of the materials are good quality and more importantly in "assembly required" types of purchases, the pieces fit together perfectly. I had it delivered with the standard shipping and was here in no time.

Great Buy !

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, even a year later!, June 9, 2005

This review is from: Mission Computer Desk - Natural (Kitchen)
We registered for a lot of our furniture at target when we were engaged, and we got this desk, and the mission style coffee table from the mission collection. I love this desk, and as college students, this desk gets a lot of use. A year and 2 apartments later this desk is still sturdy and beautiful. The finish has stood up to wear and tear, and the pull out tray is the perfect size to put both a keyboard and mouse. Some people have written in that it isn't sturdy, and to that I say that they obviously didn't spend much time or care when they put it together initially. A tip when you put ANYTHING together that has different parts to be tightened simultaneously -- get all the screws in but not tight, then when all are in, tighten. This will ensure stability. A great buy. I am moving once again in a week, and we will be buying the side table to go along with it.
