Well thought out & comprehensive guide for the Grand Canyon. It's good information prior to arrival. Published in 2010 so one may be assured that its contents are timely. If you have the time I would point you toward the North Rim. Be certain to have a reservation at the lodge before making the trip.

Has all you are probably looking for. Trail maps, rim maps, overall map, and road maps. Trail details and hiking recommendations. About the only thing I would like to have added is some clear driving tours. But with the maps and lookout points featured, this should be something to be easy to figure out and plan. This is a 2010 edition.

My husband and I traveled to the Grand Canyon in May for vacation. It was our first time visiting the Grand Canyon and our first time hiking to such an extent as well. This book is an excellent resource as to transportation, directions, hotels, parks, hiking, and excursions. We were able to see many things we would not have known existed had it not been for this book. It gives great advice on weather, safety, and costs. It is a very relevant book!

This volume contains everything needed for the first-time visitor to the Canyon, as well as the seasoned veteran on her 22nd visit who wants to know which hotels are available this year. It is up to date with the latest in park access, lodging, hiking trails, aerial tours, and even places to eat. Grubbs' guides are always top notch, filled with useful information, and up to date. Well worth the cost.

Wow, this guide is really comprehensive! I wish I would have had it before the last time that my husband and I made a trip to the Canyon. We could have spent more time exploring and less time running around gathering information. I expected chapters on hiking, camping, and sightseeing, but was pleased to also find chapters on flora and fauna, human history of the Canyon, and geology (after all it's one of the biggest geology classrooms in the world). There are even sections on photography and running the Colorado River. Photos look great, too, even on my small Kindle screen.

Bruce has been visiting, hiking, and climbing in the Grand Canyon for decades. He knows this wonderful place firsthand. If you are new to the park, his guide will be invaluable. And even if you're an old timer, you will discover new things about the Canyon. I have been leading groups to the park for over 30 years and this guide is very useful. Buy it now!
