5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for kids about the Grand Canyon, January 29, 2003

This review is from: A Grand Canyon Journey: Tracing Time in Stone (First Books--Earth & Sky Science) (Paperback)
My son is in first grade and an avid reader. He selected this book from his school library and reading two chapters a night, we finished it in less than a week. Even thought it looks complex, the text and the illustrations in the book are wonderful. It's very well written and easy to read. My son knows most of the words in the book, and there is a glossary in the back for specific terminology. It's very engaging and stimulating even for an adult. I love reading it to him!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandson Loved It, April 7, 2011

We bought this to get our grandkids, who are 3 and 5, interested in a planned trip to Grand Canyon this year. My grandson loved the pictures of fossils and then when we showed him online pictures of the same fossils on a Grand Canyon web site he was thrilled. He talks about finding these fossils all the time now.

I got it as a gift for someone who at the age of 30 did not know how the Grand Canyon was created. The book is educating and well written. it is paperback and the paper quality is a bit on the lower end. On other side, you would not want to take a more expensive book hiking with you
