The Grand Design By Paddy Mc Mahon,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Grand Design: A Simply-Stated, User-Friendly Guide to Living in the Universe (Paperback)
The grand Design is a book that is reassuringly sincere. I sought it out because I had a lot of questions about life and spirituality that had never been satisfactorily answered. In this book the author channels the Spirit entity Shebaka who speaks to us from a higher plane and quite simply tells us how it all works. How the Universe functions and how we, as humans, function within the Universe, here on Earth and on all the other levels of spiritual developement and awareness. The message of this book is peaceful, compassionate and loving. But most of all, it's message promotes the idea of being non-judgemental. I for one feel more enlightened after reading this book.

Opening a door,

I suppose many people go through life accepting that what they perceive through their physical senses is reality, and do not question their existence any further, through fear of the unknown. Reading Paddy McMahon's books in my opinion opens that door between the known and the unknown and allows us human beings to see ourselves from a wholly different perspective as spiritual beings in a physical body. It opens up a whole new outlook on life and helps take away the fear we all have of facing our death knowing that it is not the end.As the original sceptic I find Paddy McMahons communication with a higher being to be wonderful read and even if at first you may not accept the writings, one will come back to it again and again and see it in a different light each time. It makes so much sense out of the confusion of our lives and seems to answer the questions of why we are here and where are we going. If this is the way our life really is, then we have nothing to fear about our journey through it and beyond. Read the books for yourself I know you will not be disappointed.

I have read a lot of "spiritual. inspirational" books over the years and none have ever come close to answering my questions as this book has. The interesting thing about the book is even though I have found it of enormous help I find I don't have words to express all that it means to me other than the usual cliches which I have grown tired of. A truly unique book.

An excellent, insightful read.,
This review is from: The Grand Design: A Simply-Stated, User-Friendly Guide to Living in the Universe (Paperback)
If there is anything out there in the world of literary knowledge that enlightened the individual as to what the world is made up of then this it.The Grand Design series of books are worthy of any philosophical discourse. They tackle every aspect of spiritual life in a down-to-earth context. Whether the reader is sceptical about an after-life or unsure about a world other than what is immediately visible to us, every word that is read in the book has deep, intimate meaning. It is a work illuminating on all levels. I thoroughly recommend these books it to anyone interested in what the life on earth is all about.

The Grand Design, Volume 1,

This review is from: The Grand Design: A Simply-Stated, User-Friendly Guide to Living in the Universe (Paperback)
"At the age of forty-four, early in 1978, [Paddy McMahon] began to see and hear angels." In 1981, he began receiving material from "Shebaka." McMahon shares Shebaka's message of love in The Grand Design, Volumes 1 and 2. Volume 1 focuses on explaining that "life on Earth is a learning experience aimed at growth in awareness. Each soul has free will to choose how it will live its life."Through McMahon, Shebaka describes how each soul is a part of God, and how a few souls lost awareness of this. The Grand Design is not only the name of the book, it's also the description of the plan of how each soul will eventually regain what it lost. The plan is infinitely flexible, due to the nature of free will. Each soul on Earth has spirit guides who help it become aware of its purpose on Earth. When souls shed their physical bodies and return to spirit, their guides help them decide whether or not to return to Earth in another body. Guides only offer counsel--souls are always free to do whatever they want. Each soul will, however, eventually be reunited with all other souls. No soul will be lost for eternity. Shebaka provides simple instructions for contacting spirit guides and asking for their help. Although now a member of the spirit world, Shebaka lived through many Earthly lifetimes until he grew and evolved into higher awareness. He says that "it is my intention to provide an understanding of the whole scheme of life with suggestions as to how to derive as much benefit as possible from life on Earth." Volume 1 is divided into several parts, covering such topics as "who made the world," letting go, religion, evolutionary growth, free will, feeling and emotion, dreams, mind control, the "oversoul," time and space, and reincarnation. The Grand Design "aims to celebrate the existence of an infinite, all-comprehending, cooperative chain of love linking all souls together." The plan manifests itself in our daily lives. The book is essential reading for readers seeking to understand why they chose a life on Earth and how they can fulfill their life's purpose, while bringing the joy of spirituality into consciousness.

I have read both volumes of "The Grand Design". I was surprised to find that Mr. McMahon's views of 'the universal order' were very similar to my own. I like the conversational writing style and the short chapters make it easy to pick up the books often to read just a few pages at a time, perhaps on a particular topic. I have found the books to be inspirational and comforting and would highly recommend them to all.

i stumbled onto these books a long time ago and i remember thinking too myself how unusual they were, these books appear to be a very unusual form of mysticism, but are ok if the reader takes them as a story i certainly wouldnt believe the author. the author claims to channel the spirit shebaka but in my opinion shebaka is really a figment of this authors imagination sort of like an imaginary friend that children have. the author deals with a chapter entitled schizophrenia in one of the books and defines it as a split personality, which is in fact a very uneducated definition of the disease i myself am a clinical psychologist and can say that mr mcmahon hasnt got a clue about what he is talking about in that chapter and he certainly has no understanding of mental illness. all in all i would have to say that these books are the product of a very eccentric mind and i didnt enjoy them at all.

having read these weird books i would have to say that the author is obviously on a bad acid trip or schizophrenic, certainly not sane. the author of these books in my opinion is like a cult figure the next heavens gate, he believes things like that fleas and hippopotamuses have souls and that they some how fit in with the scheme of things on earth, then to make things weirder he believes that souls can live on other planets, personally i found these books bizarre and im sure any normal person would agree with me after having a read of them that the author is a headcase, obviously a headcase looking to make some $ out of the publics gullability.
