4.0 out of 5 stars Grand Eagle
I bought several Van Fleet CD's at Acadian National Park In Maine six years ago. I fell in love with his beautiful and exciting music. It's up-lifting and moving. Enough so, to erase those "down and out" feelings left over from a stressful day.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well Done!
Recently I had all of my CD's stolen and as I was going through the ones I wanted to replace this came up. One of the CD's I enjoy listening to for hours, it is very relaxing and calming. Certainly an excellent job by Ed, I love his blending of sounds.

I have listened to several of his works and everything that I have heard is wonderful!! This one is definately one of his best works. I put this CD on when I just want to relax. The music is so soothing. I'm looking forward to purchasing more of Ed Van Fleet in the near future.

I guess we have all been to that same shop in Bar Harbor! I've loved Ed Van Fleet's music for a long time, and this is one of his better albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must for Ed Van Fleet fans, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Grand Eagle (Audio CD)
I love most of Ed Van Fleet's music. Much of this album has the feel of soaring over the New Mexico desert (to me) or else stargazing, like planetarium music. He has a neat use of synthesizer sounds and a good use of percussion that is effective but not overbearing. I once brought this album on a road trip and listened to it over and over for the entire two hours and never got tired of it. The music is soothing but not dull.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for kids, February 23, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I was thinking about my childhood the other day, when I began to reminisce about this wonderful new age album, originally found by my family in a multimedia display in a rock shop (of all places). I was excited to track it down here on Amazon (the original cassette tape has long since been lost). I used to listen to Grand Eagle literally every single night before going to bed from the ages of 7 until I was perhaps 11 or 12. It wasn't a proper drift off to sleep without it.

This CD brings back so many memories now and as an adult, I'm still surprised at the longevity of this recording. Perhaps I'm totally biased by nostalgia, but the melodies are still great, even if the technology used to produce them are largely out of date (old school synthesizers and computer technology). The track "Thunderhead" is so evocative of a summer storm, it brings a smile to my face every time I hear it (as does any good thunderstorm - maybe the positive associations from this album are the culprit!). Uninitiated friends tell me this recording sounds a little bit like a video game soundtrack. Nonetheless, I will tirelessly promote it!

As I can recall, my mother didn't actually mind hearing this music as often as she did - a far cry from many of my more whimsical (to put it politely) musical selections. If you have small children in the household and need something relaxing around the house (to which you may also find your children dancing quite happily), you have found a great and fun recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately worth getting, May 24, 2004

I got the cassette back in '92 or '93 while on vacation in Bar Harbor. Feel in love with it on first hearing. I have played the cassette continuously, for weeks on end, in my car. Worried that I will eventually wear it out, I went to Amazon and found a brand new CD - now I can hear this album ALL the time, EVERYWHERE. It is THAT good. I would describe it as Native American/Nature music. Wonderful 'escape' sounds and tracks. Calming, soothing, wonderful - add it to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling, October 9, 2001

I first found Grand Eagle when I was nine years old when I was in the mall with my parents. My grandfather had instilled a deep love for natural music and the store we were in (Brookstone!!)had the panel thing so you could sample the music. I bought it, listened to it that night as I read one of my books. The next day I was back and I bought every other Ed Van Fleet CD title there which adds up to five. Nine years later the CD's are still in popular use today and I find them extremely comforting because not only is the music so well done but I have many memories packed behind it. Way to go Ed Van Fleet!

Feeling kinda down and out? Got the winter blues? Pick up a copy of this CD. it's great. The native nature of this music is up lifting and some what spiritual. Pop it in the cd player and soothe those winter blues away! definately worth adding to your collection.

I take many weekend drives from Michigan to Canada (or around the shores of the Michigan "thumb") and leave early in the mornings when the fog still hangs low in the trees. Listening to the "Grand Eagle's" haunting music while driving the (almost) deserted I-69 makes this drive so very special. The "Grand Eagle" instrumental is totally TOPS !
