5.0 out of 5 stars this cd will make you a john tesh fan
we recently had the opportunity to listen to this cd for the first time and loved it. we were reluctant to even give it a try, not really big fans of john tesh, but we did and have to admit we really enjoyed it. the music is simply beautiful, full of emotion, and is just a pleasure to hear. treat yourself to a sampling today, amazon is kind enough to share a few minutes...

1.0 out of 5 stars Whoa Nelly...pee-yew
I got this album for my mom, so I decided to give it a listen. What is all the hoopla? People get it together! This is not music! This sounds like my little brother tinkering with the keys! And that song "Mother, I Miss You"? What the? You want to listen to a real piano man, stick with Billy or Elton! Not this frankenstien twit!

5.0 out of 5 stars For all of us who have lost our mothers...., November 25, 1998
This review is from: Grand Passion (Audio CD)
Although the majority of this album is instrumental, there are two vocal selections. One of them is "Give Me Forever (I do)" and the other is "Mother I miss You." It was the second song which caused me to buy this CD, as I was able to relate to Dalia's beautifully sung lyrics. This song is for all of us who have lost our mothers, and who miss them. If you want to be swept into a place where it's okay to feel sad about your loss, then you will love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tesh's Best Piano Compostions!, August 17, 2001

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Grand Passion (Audio CD)
John Tesh may be better known from his days as co-anchor of Entertainment Tonight, but he is by far one of the most talented musicians of our time. An acommplished pianist, Tesh's passion lies therein. 'Grand Passion' is one of his best works, in my opinion. He plays with such conviction, the title of this cd is only fitting. He wrote all compostions on this, with the exception of the two vocals, "Give Me Forever (I Do)," and "Mother I Miss You," which he co-wrote with thier singers, James Ingram and Dalia Reid, respectivly. "The Homecoming" and "In A Child's Eyes" are also included on his debut Christmas cd, 'A Romantic Christmas.' (which by the way is wonderful too!) His grand piano solos on this cd are beautiful! They're so emotionally stirring. There are other instrumental accompaniment in some songs.....acousitc, bass & electric guitar, soprano & alto sax, drums & percussion, synthesizers, and some string arrangement. They really add to the depth of this recording.

Tesh's talents permeate beyond his piano playing & writing skills, and flow over into a vast knowledge of the music and it's origins. 'Grand Passion' is a great cd to relax with, or to work with for that matter. If you aren't familiar with John Tesh, the pianist, you're in for a real treat. He takes his music very seriously and it shows. He's also done a cd series called 'Pure Movies,' which of course are songs from popular movies, and he's also done some sports related music. But, I like his own compositions the best. Besides 'Grand Passion,' 'Winter Song' and his two Christmas cd's, 'A Romantic Christmas' and 'A Family Christmas' are great works too. If you're looking for some nice soothing music, this is a wonderful cd to pick. This one is included in my most relaxing cd's list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very touching, passionate music., January 26, 1999

I purchased this CD for my best friend. She just lost her mother, who was brutally murdered. I knew the second I heard "Mother I Miss You" that I would get that song for her. I am trying desperately to ease her pain, but also realize that she must face her loss and work through it day by day. Thank you for helping my friend to deal with the tragic loss of her mom.

I listened with attention to the songs you could listen to indicated by the 'note'-sign and I must say that what I heard pleased me. Your instrument is beautiful and you are very secure of what you are doing when you touch the 'Ebonies and Ivories'. I liked what I heard. Good luck to you. I take the opportunity to get back at a 'Baltimore music fan' as she, or he calls her- or himself, calling your music "quote 'Frankenstein Twit'(whatever that means, the last word that is). My answer: 'Sweetheart, you stick to whatever you like'. Get the message? Done and over with!

The piano is soothing and calming. But that's not all, the "Mother I Miss You" is just amazing, very moving, especially for those who have experienced it -- Mother I Miss You!!!

I purchased this CD at the suggestion of another motherless daughter who knew that Mother, I Miss You would touch my heart and it has. Only if you have lost your mom do you understand the heartbreaking lyrics.

I enjoyed Grand Passions immensely. It had taken me awhile to purchase the CD, and once I did I fell in love with it. My mother passed away three years ago and the song "Mother I Miss You" told how I felt with words I could not say. I will have this song played at my wedding in July to remember her and to say that she deeply missed. I also loved the song "Give Me Forever I Do" this song says it all about my fiance' and I. This is a must buy for those gettting married.

Imagine if the incredible prose of Robert James Wallers or the paintings of Byrne Jones could be translated into music, and you're in the ballpark: simply the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give Me Forever I Do with James Ingram - BEAUTIFUL !!!!, April 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Grand Passion (Audio CD)
I first heard Give Me Forever I Do with James Ingram when John and James were on 'The Hour of Power - Robert Schuller'. I heard the music and the words and decided that I must have that song. Well, I couldn't find a single so I bought the entire CD. I am extremely happy with the entire CD. Also, Mother I Miss You is also very nice.
