grand theft auto returns to it's roots, October 29, 2004
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto (Video Game)
Grand theft auto finially gets a game to call it's own on GBA. Before playing, one thing you need to realize, is that the game is simply HUGE. How in the world they were able to fit such a large city on such a tiny pack is beyond me... Next up, this game is played from a top-down view. Don't let this scare you off, as the game is still just as interactive as it's PS2 and X-Box counter parts. The game follows a story that takes place roughly one year before GTA3, following Mike and Vinnie as they do "one last job" for the mafia before getting out of Liberty City. The game features a story mode of reasonable length, along with GTA's trademark side missions, including vigilante runs in a cop car, ambulance and taxi cab. The game features over 20 vehicles, all of which handle a little differently, and large, expansive neighborhoods that streach on forever.Although through the transition to the small screen, GTA has lost some of it's gritty feel, it manages to keep all the violence, drug abuse and some sexual themes here and there to make GTA Advance one of the very few GBA games that is rated "M". On to some of the game's down sides, the game does get a little monotonous, just like it's console counter parts. Driving also takes some getting used to, especially on crowded streets (thats to be expected on a top down game such as this), not to mention that the game seems almost too large, sometimes having you spend up to 20 minutes just driving through crowded streets. What the game does right is exactly what the console versions got right: huge, open-ended areas, almost compleate freedom, tons of cars, lots of weapons, and a huge ammount of game time (technically, the game never ends... as you can always just drive around, go on rampages, stel cars, and go on vigilante missions). This game, however, does it's console brothers one up by being portable. Simply put, this game is a must buy if you are a GTA fan (and most everyone is) and deserves a look even if you aren't. Don't miss it.

Grand Theft Auto..for the Gameboy Advance...'bout time...., December 15, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto (Video Game)
We've all been looking for(the often rumored) Grand Theft Auto for the Gameboy Advance and, now, after a long wait- we finally have it. Despite the reviews I've read all over the internet and even a certain gaming magazine on the game(which weren't favorable, let me tell you); I found the game to be pretty awesome(especially considering what the GBA can do). It amazes me how they were able to make the place so HUGE in the game...but they did it. Played in the vein of the classic PSone games, Grand Theft Auto has found a good avenue on the Advance. You can explore Liberty City, find dozens of vehicles to drive, choose from hundreds of side missions, even go on rampages to blow away your enemies and earn points by doing it in a set amount of time. Like the product description states, Grand Theft Auto brings the thrills of the classic GTA gaming series to your Game Boy Advance....big time. You'd be a fool to miss this pocket version. It's just as much fun as all the other games. It is, definitely, a must for all GTA fans. Trust me.
I hope that Rockstar and Take2 Interactive decide to continue the series on the system. It'd be a big seller, I assure you.

Reminicent of Grand Theft Auto!, December 20, 2011

The storyline is excellent but they should've left Liberty City as Brocklyn, Kings, Brix, and Manchester surrounded by New Guernsey instead of changing it to Portland Island and Staunton Island next to Shoreside Vales!
