4.0 out of 5 stars A good game with minor set backs
Grnad theft auto o the Game boy color does not quite have the same appeal or "playerability" of the PC version, but for such a small screen it has excellent graphics (crystal clear) and has over 100 tasks. It does require, if you want to save your games, a battery backed file and has an excellent sound track. Excellent if you don't cart your PC around with you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Unique game with BAD controls
If you can get past the awful controls on this game, it is actually fairly fun to play. You get to be the bad guy this time around, which has an addictive attraction if you ask me.

Run over cops, shoot cops, mow down pedestrians for no apparent reason, etc. Fun, right? Yep, you bet. Good luck with those controls though, you're gonna need it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grand Theft Auto, November 27, 1999

I just recently bought GTA for Game Boy Color and after my first time playing it, I found it to be a bit of a let-down. It was difficult to know where exactly you are going in the game and it was kind of a pain to maneuver your car around tight corners. After playing the game for a while though, it became pretty fun as you go through the missions you are assigned. If you liked the PC version of GTA, I suggest that you buy the Game Boy Color version. Also, for parents, the violence and swearing has been cut down so it would not be too bad for younger children. I give Grand Theft Auto 4 stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars GTA on GBC is pretty cool, December 4, 1999

I'm glad I bought this game. It has great sound and terrific graphics. The gameplay itself, however, can be a little frustrating. At times I had trouble figuring out where to go and when you're on foot It can take awhile. The speed and handling of the cars is great.Once you get the hang of it, this game is awesome. It's one of the best action games you can buy for GBC. I would reccomend buying it.

Grand Theft Auto was the first game I purchased for my Game Boy Color. I have to say I am NOT disappointed with it at all. There is only one problem with it. Its not recommended for kids. It does use a little bit of foul language. The point of the game is to do jobs for the mob. In order to do that you have to steal cars, get weapons, and run people over. Yah so it's a pretty violent game, but any teenager would love it!

OK, the game may have horrible controls (you have to push a just to walk, it's hard to make turns, etc.), and it may have crappy graphics on the REGULAR gameboy, and the cars may all have the same speeds, light traffic, BUT there are lots of good things about the game. Great graphics on a gameboy COLOR, lotsa cars, 100+ missions, all the wepons from the originial (although i'm still trying to find the rocket launcher), three HUGE cities, and lots more. Get this game. Period.

Wonderful graphics combined with killer gameplay, this is the game to buy! however,DO NOT buy this game for young children, everyone has a mouth like a truck driver! If this is for an adult,it is hilarious, with over 40 missions your go on for various gangs,in 3 different citys!

GTA is the first game I got for my Game Boy Color. The controls are hard to get used to, but after you understand them, the game is really fun. It's not good for little kids, the controls might be too hard and the language too raw, but for a teenager, it's one of the best games on the market.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, November 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto (Game Cartridge)
Sleazy manual, terrible controls, this game just isn't fun. Hard to go around corners, it's almost impossible to get a car. And shooting weapons is just plain annoying. For your sake, don't buy this game!!!

Despite the alluringly sleazy premise, this game fails on all levels. After struggling through perhaps the worst instruction book I have ever seen, I was confronted with a driving game that renders steering impossible. Add to this a confusing map environment, microscopic graphics, and poor sound, and you have the makings of a first class overhyped loser. Amazon really needs a "0" stars option.
