March 6, 2006 below has it all backwards,

The version (2.0) has been altered to 'remove' the ability to 'hot coffee' mod the program.
This version (2.0), while still containing the violence, language, and sexual references was altered to remove the ability to de-clothe' the characters within the game. The original release could be altered. The version (2.0) was released due to a small public outcry about the nudity. AND a few 'activities' that are going on while in the 'nude'..... Strange when you can remember the reasons why they tried to ban Grand Theft Auto 3 all those years ago. This time around they don't even mention violence. They are mad now because kids can see people 'nekkid'. ;-)

Ver 2.0 is fun, but serious modders beware!,

FYI, If you enjoy modding to spice up your GTA world and enhance replayability you DO NOT WANT TO BUY VER 2.0!!! Due to lawsuits over the "hot coffee" mod, ver 2.0 was released with new code that prevents any mods from working. If you want to replace the Banshee with the new Ferrari Superamerica, or the Landstalker with an H2, you need ver 1.0. If you don't care about modding, then sit back and enjoy the ride...

I like the GTA series of games and this one is great too. I can turn up my settings to max (My computer is over a year old) and there are no problems. The kid reviewer claims that he doesn't like the "N/F bomb". That is why this is rated M for Mature (so he should not even be playing it). To give the series a taste some things cannot be eliminated.
This is a fun games just exploring the city or completing missions.

I bought this game a bit late (2 years after It came out)
but it still seemed state of the art to me! Loved the story, and gameplay has improved significantly Pros- -HUGE MAP, with 5 massave areas to explore -TONS of vehicles- you might not see the same one twice! -Cool new features, like vehicle customization -Endless stuff to do! -multiplayer mode Cons- -character customization prosess can be annoying -If you leave the game on without pausing, you could be in for a bad supprise when you come back (ie, all your muscle going down) Go buy this game, you will really like it

great game. bought this during spring break and have been playing for non stop for a week. It works well with vista, although it crashes from time to time when I exist to view the map or when i jump to the desktop by using alt+tab. But no serious issues.

This game is literally the alpha and the omega of its genre.
The storyline was great, the characters were really good, the freedom and depth in the game was almost unbelievable. Planes, choppers, bikes, cars, you name it... Drug dealing, gun running, cop bribing, you name it. Even still, this game had 2 or 3 pretty big flaws. Namely that it is not great graphically, but on a strong pc with a good graphics card, it is hard to really complain. What most bothered me is that on a half dozen or so missions, the objective was so poorly phrased so that I ended up spending a few hours trying to do the wrong thing entirely! I was flying the plane and trying to land it on a cliff instead of a hit a marker x thousand feet in the air! The directions for the mission said take it to the cliff so I did... Also, some of the missions might take a lot of attempts before you succeed so have patience. As lame as my last quasi complaint is, I think the storyline could have been longer! I wanted to see a few more missions where Carl and Wuzi have fun after the big heist and I wish CJ would have had a definite resolution with Catalina. If anyone has not planed any of the GTA games before, as I hadn't either, then this game might overwhelm you and the first couple nights, you will really hate it! But if you do buy it, be warned, this game will take about 2-3 weeks of playing 6-8 hours a day if you want to get close to 100% completion and it is addictive!!!

If you liked Vice City, you'll love San Andreas. With more missions, car and character customizations and rival gang territories to take over, what could be better?
The games biggest downfall is the familiar feeling you get after a while, however, the new and improved options easily make it a winner and well worth the cash. As a note, I had NO problems running this game with pretty much all options on high. I run a Dell 8300 3.0 HT, 1 GB ram, Radeon 9700 PRO and it flies! Strap up and get ready to defend your 'hood.

This game will be talked about not only for its controversial content but also for the pure fact that gaming was taken to a whole new level with the grand theft auto series that has been developed by Rockstar games. The world is expansive in its size, unitary in that fact that it is free roaming, and exquisite in the fact that the graphics (for its time) are amazing. The story line drives the player through the game, motivating through great segment after great segment of an almost never ending game, you will get your moneys worth with this one.

GTA newbie,

I found a new copy of this at my local retailer for $10 and decided to pick it up. I had played Vice City and GTA III a couple of times on my friend's systems and consoles. In San Andreas, missions are fun, but sometimes they seem unnecessary and tedious. Other drivers seem to hit you and swerve into your path unnecessarily, but that's why you have a gun. The free roaming aspect is as nice as ever, but the cop AI is hit or miss. The mouse control is so much sweeter than analog sticks for aiming. The relatively few types of people get repetitive, and draw distance is too short even at maximum.
A couple of points: This game will tax a fairly nice modern system at 1080i resolution with all effects enabled, but 720p or lower is piece of cake. This game DOES RUN on Windows XP PRO 64-bit! This is a big deal, even Apple no longer supports xp64 with iTunes. This game is a steal at its current price, and it will help tide me over while I wait for 4 to hit PC.
