i've been playing san andreas since early november and i'm close to beating it. i love hip hop but you would have to be crazy to just stick with radio los santos. after a while i got bored with those songs so i went to the r and b stations but got bored with that too. i started listening to pretty much any station after a while and it's funny cause the songs grow on you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Where's the rest of the music?
Rockstar did an amazing job of compiling a lot of great music for this game, but they haven't released it all. I'm not sure why, but lots of songs are left out of the soundtrack. Rockstar did an amazing job of compiling a lot of great music for this game, but they haven't released it all. I'm not sure why, but lots of songs are left out of the soundtrack. For instance, Radio Los Santos is only represented by six songs on the soundtrack, even though there are 16 in the game; not to mention that Radio Los Santos was combined with Playback, which is only represented with 5 songs on the soundtrack. Why didn't they each have their own disc, like the rest of the radio stations? The quality is great. The commercials are hillarious. Why didn't they include all the music? The soundtrack box set could have and would have been a lot better if they hadn't omitted a lot of great music. I would rather have purchased CDs of individual radio stations, if they were to include all of the songs from the game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where's All The Good Music?, December 9, 2004

I pre ordered this thing thinking that I would be blown away. When I saw the updated track lists and found out all of SF-UR was missing I just about died. Plus music like the track you do the Low rider too and the Stone Roses, Playing with the Queen of Hearts.....? All missing. Granted that Vice City was missing some music but not enough to warrant a complaint. The hard core HIp Hop was also missing. I think this soundtrack wasn't very strong to begin with. Plus the versions of some of the songs aren't the same as in the game. Roy Ayers Running Away is a louder version on the game off of a different album. Overall it's cool to have for bragging rights but not quite what I was hoping for I was hoping for Hans Oberland and his House Music.

4.0 out of 5 stars From Hair Bands to Plaid :The Late 80's Early 90's, July 19, 2005
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Audio CD)
This 8 CD box set is a time capsule of the music scene at the beginning of the last decade of the 20th century. It has hits, obscure hits, and plain old obscure! For me it is my teenage years and an amazing collection of tunes. I am bummed for one reason, that there are some songs that are in the game that are not on the collection, but other than that this is as fine as a box set can get!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some great songs left out of the soundtrack, May 13, 2005
By
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Audio CD)
This 8 cd box set has some great songs, most take place in the late 80's and early 90's, however, some great songs that were included in the game, such as Welcome to the Jungle and Lowrider, were left out of the official soundtrack. Those two songs were one reason why i bought this soundtrack so I was a bit dissapointed to find out they weren't even included. Overall it isn't a bad set but some of the cd's in the box set are a bit crappy and you'll find yourself forgetting about half of the cd's a few weeks down the line.

I suggest you only buy this box set if you're a die-hard fan of the Grand Theft Auto games because as good as some of the songs are and as many cd's as this box set includes, you'll be dissapointed too.

4.0 out of 5 stars All Rights Reserved, August 2, 2005
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Audio CD)
Well well well. This is the uber game with the uber sound track right? In some respects it is, 8 discs, better cover art and more songs for almost the same price. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, was a smash success for many reasons, one of them in my opinion was the inclusion of the music. I guess I'm a closet 80's music person since I didn't know much about it, but after that game I was out in the store checking out Flock of Seagulls albums. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a great game but I guess I'm not a fan of the 90's as I thought I was, especially music. The discs are set up like music cds, I miss the D.J. interface that Vice City had for each disc, made it personal in a way and the inclusion/exclusion of certain songs can be maddening. I mean why have "Welcome 2 the Jungle" on the commercials but not the ultimate soundtrack? Sure licensing issues aside, I enjoy the pack but again I guess I found out I'm not a 90's type music guy. The only big disappointment on the disc was K-Rose, the country disc. 99% of the songs were not even close to that decade. . . Not to say I want *gulp* Acky Breaky Heart, but hey, it's the time not the quality of music. Good price for the amount of music but not the same for fans of the Vice City ultimate pack.

Trying to take the CD's out the from the cases feels like you are about to break the CD.

The soundtrack is good, but just like the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City soundtrack several songs from the game are not in the box set. Take the "Radio X" cd for example:
Primal Scream "Movin' on Up", Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle", Ozzy Osbourne "Hellraiser", The Stone Roses "Fools Gold" and Alice in Chains "Them Bones" are missing

But the following station ID's and commercials: "Radio X Intro", "You're On Radio X", "That Was Radio X", "My Five Uncles" and "Exsorbeo Handheld Gaming System" are on the CD.

I think we should kick Rockstar's ass and demand the soundtracks to GTA1 GTA2 GTA: London 1969, GTA: London 1961, GTA3, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories, and GTA: China town Wars. And the full soundtrack from the Grand Theft Auto 4 games.

That about says it all. Now I respect the quality products from Rockstar, although this isn't one of them. Why again must some of the best songs from the radio station be missed out again? I remember the days of Vice City, singing along to the tracks which were unavailable on the soundtrack when it was released separately. Thankfully not many were missed out and I was available to obtain them another way legally. However a huge amount are missed this time. I don't know if it's down to record companies or the artists not letting their songs be placed on or some random with a distaste for the public but one thing's for sure it certainly is inconvenient. Ah well, there's always next time.
