4.0 out of 5 stars Nice product with a couple of wants
This is a nice, economically-priced product that is small and light enough that I will probably always carry it with me on backpacking outings. Based on my very un-scientific experiments, I would say it indeed adds the 10 degrees it claims to bag warmth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Silk Sleeping Bag liner
This product feels great against your skin and is light as a feather, but for "rambunctious" sleepers like my husband, it doesn't hold up. After 3 weeks of use it was ripped down the side. I was able to repair that, but after 6 weeks of use, it is totally destroyed, ripped into several pieces. If you are the type of person who pretty much wakes up in the same position you...

1.0 out of 5 stars You may get tangled in this bag while sleeping and..., October 7, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a small-frame woman who does not toss and turn in bed. I used this bag on vacation for a week and hated it. I kept getting tangled up in it when I rolled over. Plus, all the hems work lose after using it for a week. Very poor quality stitching and fabric, and not comfortable to sleep in.

And the storage bag that attaches to it connects to the middle of the bag and can't be removed. So you get that in your back too during the night.

I DON'T recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too narrow, July 12, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used this sleepsack in Africa, in places where I really didn't want my body touching the mattress, and I found it difficult to sleep in the sack without getting twisted up in it. It is very narrow and open on one side (to get in and out of), so if you move around at all while you sleep, it's easy to find yourself partially outside of the sleep sack at some point during the night (I think the woman they show in the picture must be especially short and small since it appears much roomier than it actually is). I think you can get better value for the money. Advantages: it folds up small and is easy to transport. Cons: the silk doesn't appear to be great quality, and it is hard to get in and out of and restricts movement while sleeping.

It is a bit of a hassle to get into the silk sack inside of a sleeping bag, but that's probably the normal case unless your liner was made specifically for your bag. I do wish it had a better system for closing up the sides (you have to tie it shut). I will probably sew buttons on instead, or maybe completely sew one side shut and sew buttons on the other.

I am 6'0", 170 lbs, and it slightly bigger than it needs to be for my frame/sleeping bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality for less, August 13, 2006
This sleeping bag liner was everything I wanted it to be. I have bought from dreamsack company before and paid a very high price for the same quality I got with this sleep sack. I would say this is excellent quality for a lower price.

extremely light-weight silk sleep sack with attached stuff sack & pillow slot. the silk fabric feels just wonderful against your skin. it is soft without being slidey like some silks. indeed, as i have seen mentioned in other reviews, this is not the most durable product & it does turn over with you at times.

the first problem is, of course, associated with the weight - less materials equals less weight, but also equals less durability. over time, it develops stretch marks & starts to fall apart along those lines. i actually sleep in it at home all the time, so the durability thing needs to be understood in that context.

the second problem happens with nighties or other sleep sacks as well - in short with any tube in your bed or sleeping bag not tacked down at the sides. you can tack it down by using safety pins through the stuff sack & some of the attached ties to whatever is handy - the mattress, the sleeping bag, etc. - if you are so inclined.

despite these two problems, i still love this product & am preparing to purchase my third one since i have not found anything comparable that i like better. i like to use it when i travel to keep myself cocooned in this most luxurious feeling fabric regardless of the state of the sheets or blankets i am offered. i use it pulled up to my waist over all my clothes, anytime i will be sitting outdoors when it is cold. at hostels, i use it as a sarong to keep myself decent on the way to the showers. it air dries quite quickly after being washed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Traveling, August 19, 2008
I purcahsed this before a big european vacation where I had planned on staying at 10-15 hostels, motels and resorts. I am 190 lbs and 6ft tall. Some of the places I did not look forward to staying at but the sleep sack made it comfortable, easy to use and most of all lightweight. There is not a better quality sleep sack on the market and when you add the price into the equation I beleive it is a best buy. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended by a flight attendant, January 3, 2007
I love it! It protects me from those God-knows-where-they've-been airline blankets. I don't have to carry sheets or pillowcases anymore, and it washes/dries like a dream, too. Truly a blessing for the germ-phobe.

This review is from: Grand Trunk Silk Sleep Sack (Apparel)
This sleep sack is great. Not only does it pack into the attached stuff sack easily, which is about the size of a soda can, but it weighs next to nothing. An easy add-in when packing. Also, it is large enough to sleep in comfortably - something that I was concerned about as a queen-sized bed gal. I had no sense of getting tangled in it. Glad I got it and it will go with me often.
