Alex Bueno's famous catchphrase "Ay Dios mio" has been said with much pizazz over the years, much like his music. Although he beloved in his native Dominican Republic, as well as in NY's Washington Heights, he never did get the "shine" that other artists got, namely Juan Luis Guerra or Antony Santos. the latter are the kings, as popular opinions go, but Alex Bueno is just as diverse and as well versed a singer any day! his career also spans the same amount, if not longer, than either Guerra or Santos. Going strong for over 20 years with a silken voice and much emotion...his music is nothing short of moving. Being romantic, heartbreaking, uplifting and depressing all in one. It would be bad to pin him down as a "bachata" singer, he surely has made many bachatas over the years and excelled at it, but this collection represents what Alex Bueno is all about...talent. I aprreciate good MUSIC be it bachata, merengue, romanticas or what have you, Alex combines elements of them all and outs his trademark stamp on it. I don't think there is a better Dominican singer than Alex, i am huge fans of both Guerra and Sergio Vargas, probably the two most beloved in DR, but Bueno deserves a seat amongst them. This is a near flawless collection of his best to date, and he is still in the game in 2005 of course his moments now are few and far between. Grandes Exitos de Alex Bueno en Bachatas is defintely more of a "bachata" collection but as I said he can take a bachata and make it so much more. An excellant singer and one who deserves all the respect in the world.

I personally think that it was a great way to put all of his
classic song together and turn-it into bachata Alex is one of the most talent singer that the dominican republic has.
