An Excellent Christmas Album!, November 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer (Audio CD)
IMHO, if you don't get a kick out of the infamous song, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", you're just not a fun person. I know a few people that hate it, and they're definitely NOT fun people. I love the subtle implication that maybe Christmas without Grandma is the first Christmas Grandpa has really enjoyed since he got married. "Sing it Grandpa!"As great as the title song is, "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" may be even better. And then there's the hilarious "Senor Santa Clause". But the album also contains stellar versions of classics like, "Joy to the World", "Rudolph", "Silent Night", and "Jingle Bell Rock". Elmo is sort of a stylist -- and I like him a lot --, but Patsy can REALLY sing!I was skeptical about this album when I bought it, but after hearing it, I'm very impressed! Elmo & Patsy are truly a talented pair. If you love title song, like I do, don't hesitate to pick up this CD. And if you don't like the title song, I'm embarrassed for ya!

A mix of the comic and the straight, November 15, 2003
The title track is a huge song in America but never caught on in Britain. It is one of those comic songs that you either love or hate. I love it. The rest of this album contains nothing quite like it, though there are two other comic songs here - Percy the puny poinsettia and Senor Santa Claus. The general style of the album is country. On the comic songs and Jingle bells, Elmo sings solo. Elsewhere on the album you get to hear what a fine singer Patsy is, especially Joy to the world and Christmas, on which she sings solo. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer features Patsy with the help of a children's choir and a cameo appearance by Elmo. Jingle bell rock, the only real duet, is particularly good. On Here's to the lonely and Silent night, Elmo and Patsy each sing half the song. So this is a fine, upbeat Christmas album but the title track is not typical of the rest of the album.

Very funny, December 21, 1999
This review is from: Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer (Audio CD)
This is a great CD for people who simply cannot stand to hear another one of those traditional sugar-sweet Christmas songs. "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" are really funny, and the classic "Jingle Bell Rock" is always a good choice. The only song I don't like is "Silent Night". Elmo's and Patsy's way to sing it makes me think they are just missing the correct notes. If it has to be "Silent Night" I prefer it the traditional way.
