5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Christmas Album!
IMHO, if you don't get a kick out of the infamous song, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", you're just not a fun person. I know a few people that hate it, and they're definitely NOT fun people. I love the subtle implication that maybe Christmas without Grandma is the first Christmas Grandpa has really enjoyed since he got married. "Sing it...

2.0 out of 5 stars "Grandma" is Great - But the Dr. Elmo's Album is a better way to get it
Dr. Elmo is the best. It's better to order the Grandma song on one of the more recent, Dr. Elmo CD's. The other songs on those CD's are great. Very clever. By the way, "Grandma" is not a "Parody." It is an original novelty Christmas song. Patsy does not sing on "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". It's ALL Dr. Elmo.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Christmas Album!, November 4, 1998

IMHO, if you don't get a kick out of the infamous song, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer", you're just not a fun person. I know a few people that hate it, and they're definitely NOT fun people. I love the subtle implication that maybe Christmas without Grandma is the first Christmas Grandpa has really enjoyed since he got married. "Sing it Grandpa!"As great as the title song is, "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" may be even better. And then there's the hilarious "Senor Santa Clause". But the album also contains stellar versions of classics like, "Joy to the World", "Rudolph", "Silent Night", and "Jingle Bell Rock". Elmo is sort of a stylist -- and I like him a lot --, but Patsy can REALLY sing!I was skeptical about this album when I bought it, but after hearing it, I'm very impressed! Elmo & Patsy are truly a talented pair. If you love title song, like I do, don't hesitate to pick up this CD. And if you don't like the title song, I'm embarrassed for ya!

5.0 out of 5 stars A mix of the comic and the straight, November 15, 2003
The title track is a huge song in America but never caught on in Britain. It is one of those comic songs that you either love or hate. I love it.

The rest of this album contains nothing quite like it, though there are two other comic songs here - Percy the puny poinsettia and Senor Santa Claus. The general style of the album is country.

On the comic songs and Jingle bells, Elmo sings solo. Elsewhere on the album you get to hear what a fine singer Patsy is, especially Joy to the world and Christmas, on which she sings solo. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer features Patsy with the help of a children's choir and a cameo appearance by Elmo. Jingle bell rock, the only real duet, is particularly good. On Here's to the lonely and Silent night, Elmo and Patsy each sing half the song.

So this is a fine, upbeat Christmas album but the title track is not typical of the rest of the album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, December 21, 1999
By
Beatrice (Berlin, Germany) - See all my reviews
This is a great CD for people who simply cannot stand to hear another one of those traditional sugar-sweet Christmas songs. "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" and "Percy the Puny Poinsettia" are really funny, and the classic "Jingle Bell Rock" is always a good choice. The only song I don't like is "Silent Night". Elmo's and Patsy's way to sing it makes me think they are just missing the correct notes. If it has to be "Silent Night" I prefer it the traditional way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun for Christmas, December 26, 2007

This is full of fun, daft Christmas songs, just as they should be. Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer is one of the funniest songs I've ever heard and, on this CD, is followed ideally by Grandpa's Gonna Sue the Pants off Santa. All the songs are great and, apart from Jingle Bells, original. Fun for all the family to enjoy, if you buy this, I'll guarantee it'll be out every Christmas without fail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandma Got Run Over by a Raindeer, January 21, 2000

Christmas songs with a difference - title song getting great air time in New Zealand, but don't forget Senor Santa Clause. It's just as much fun. Silent Night with a bagpipe accompanyment is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer, March 4, 2002

I got the casette tape when it first came out, before there even were CD's. It is priceless. Other songs on the album are great, too, especially Percy The Puny Poinsettia and the one about the Mexican girl's Christmas gift (can't think right off of the title). I have long been a fan of Patsy and Elmo - went to see them live years ago. Wish they'd do more albums.

Ever since I could remember, my family listened to this album along with the Chipmunks Christmas while decorating the Christmas Tree. Looked everywhere for it after the cassette tape was lost. Finally found it on here. Amazing CD.

If you like off the wall recording, this is one for you. I hae always like Grandma gor turn over by a reindeer. The other are a added treat, granted this is a special venue, but it is a lot of fun.
