My 3 year old granddaughter first introduced this book to me while I was at her house for a visit awaiting the birth of her new little sister. My first thought was, "well it's a board book so it'll be too simple for it to be good"... I read it the first night at bedtime, then the second night, then the third night and it continued on for the entire month I was there! LOL....sure we both knew it by heart very quickly and would read it out loud together, but that was half the fun. I'd do funny voices when I read it and sometimes changed a few of the words to kind of mix it up...But she enjoyed it so very much EVERY time. When I got back to the state where I live, I bought my own copy (just because I'm a kid at heart and I wanted to have something tangible of those beautiful reading memories with her.) I was further rewarded one day when she was having a hard time taking her afternoon nap. When my daughter called, I asked if I could talk to my little "Peanut"...I told her to go get her book and I would read it to her and she had to follow along and open all the little flaps. She did of course and she giggled the whole way through as if it were the first time she was hearing it. It was another priceless moment for this grandma...and she didn't have any trouble going down for her nap after that either. It's amazing what will capture a little ones attention. Sometimes we adults make things too complicated. As for me, I love to see things through the eyes of a child.

This is a typical Katz book, beautiful pictures, cute words in large print, and a lift the flap format. Your baby/infant will be captivated and reach for this book often.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me, is because I expected Karen Katz to include a more youthful looking grandma. Times have changed...neither of my children's grandmothers nor those of any of our friends look this way anymore...I just expected the images to reflect that I guess.

Karen Katz books are awesome! My daughter has had several of them since birth, and is now two, and picks them off the bookshelf to read almost everynight. By lifting the flaps, she really feels she is participating in the story. She's pretty gentle, and rougher kids may pull/rip the flaps. Note - the flaps seem to be bigger and sturdier - and the stories better - in the books both written AND illustrated by Karen Katz. LOVE her books.

I bought this book for my 12 month old who loves books with lil flaps to open. The only problem is, these flaps are of very thin cardboard and easily tear off. We will be putting away this book till she learns how to open them more carefully.

My son has loved "reading" this book since he was 8 months old. He loves paging through by himself and loves when I read it to him. We read it together in preparation for visits from out-of-town grandma. It's adorable, Grandma brings presents, makes cookies, cuts flowers in the garden. It is very sweet.

All of Karen Katz's books are great and this is one of the best ones. Grandma and daughter love to read this book, over and over!!! Just a great book for over 1 children. Pretty durable too! Would recommend for any grandma and grandchild combo!

My granddaughter loves leafing thru this book with me. Lot of look under the tabs for 'surprises'. Well illustrated. Highly recommend.

She bores easily, but she loves this little book. she has had it for a couple of months, and she's still interested in it. She's 19 months and change now.

Bright and cheerful, a gorgeous story about a little girl enjoying a visit from her Grandma. I brought this for my mother's birthday from her little grandaughter - I don't know who enjoys it more! I would have brought another book for my daughter's other grandmother but she has a different title. A selection of Nana, Gran, Grannie etc would be good.

We actually bought this as part of a mother's day present for my daughter's Grandma, since they love to read together.

Karen Katz books are always delightful with their colorful pictures and easy to lift flaps. My daughter has several of her books, and they are her favorites. The wording and phrasing are simple and I'm sure that they will be helpful when my daughter starts to read on her own.
