Review

I LOVED it. What a great (and much needed) book. --Heather Allard, The Mogul Mom blog

This much-needed book should put life into perspective for both mothers and grandmothers, because it tells both sides of the story so well and gives such sensible advice. --Marguerite Kelly, Family Almanac advice column, The Washington Post

Congrats on a great book. I'm already looking forward to a copy! --LeAnn Thieman, Co-Author, with Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, Chicken Soup for the Grandmother's Soul: Stories to Honor and Celebrate the Ageless Love of Grandmothers

Product Description

A collection of articles based on 40 interviews with mothers and grandmothers in which each was asked the question, "What advice would you give the other generation about how to raise the grandchildren?"

The author has taken her extensive experience in interviewing hundreds of top computer executives and applied this to the delicate, emotional link between mothers and grandmothers when it comes to advice about raising children.

Each has the experience of their time. Each misses the perspective of the other generation. Into this gap, the author has gently inserted stories of raising her own children to illustrate how the love of both generations enriches the children.

This book is a very enjoyable read. Carol has a lively, interesting and natural
writing style, which makes it really easy to assimilate the very real wisdom
she presents. The book is rather like an instruction manual for new
grandmothers, and in my opinion has great value in enhancing relationships
between grandparents and their children who have just become parents
themselves.

One of the really great things about it is that she has not just shared her
wisdom and experiences, but has tapped into experiences of other grandmothers
and the parents who have just turned their own parents into grandparents!

Therefore you get a cross-section of problems and questions and resolutions
from others that are actually real situation. The author gives descriptions specific
enough that you could develop exercises to raise your communication skills based
on the situations described.

Another very useful thing is that she has divided the book into sections
according to the age of the grandchildren. Obviously issues with newborns are
different from issues with teenagers etc. and therefore she has taken this
into account making it again more usable information.

So whether you are a new grandparent or have been one for quite a while, I
can recommend this as a highly worthwhile book for bettering understanding and
harmony between the generations.

I first met Carol Covin at a seminar in Atlanta, Georgia where we partnered to assist business owns in branding their Internet presence. I found her to be a natural blessing to all those around her, especially in the way she unselfishly flowed with the attendees many needs and questions.

"Who Gets To Name Grandma" is outstanding textual representation of the author's personality as she methodically guides us through the actual experiences of mothers and grandmothers philosophy pertaining to raising children from infancy to adulthood. This book is a "publishers pick" as one every person will find enjoyable and self-enhancing.
