Sally Houtman possesses bachelor degrees in English and Psychology and a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University. For the past 8 years, she has served as a counselor in outpatient chemical dependency treatment at Kaiser Permanente, the nations leading HMO.
As an individual who herself was raised by her grandparents, the author brings a sense of reality to the topic.
