Let me start out by saying I read the reviews and went to a local store instead. Lo and behold! They had this exact brand of molasses for 3 dollars - a much better and more manageable price.

I'm not using this molasses for baking like most people here. I have an ovarian cyst that is refusing to go away and is causing me a lot of pain. (For those who don't know, doctors have 2 approaches: wait and watch it or surgically remove it - neither being appealing to me. I'm not a "wait and watch" kind of woman.) I read in several places online that if you take 1-2 tablespoons of this in conjunction with 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, it will help the cyst dissolve. And you know what? It's working like a charm, my pain is almost gone within 2 days of trying this method. I know it's not a placebo effect because I was...extremely skeptical (to say the least) that this would even work in the first place.

special note: This is a review of the product, not the offered price.

I don't use a lot of molasses in my cooking but when I bake ginger snaps I love that the recipe I have calls for 1/4cup of molasses. Why? Because molasses have a lot of iron. 4% of the daily requirement per 1 tablespoon of Grandma's. Not a fantastic amount per cookie, but every little bit helps with toddlers and growing big kids.

That said, you can imagine my surprise when my husband brought home another brand -Golding Farms- where the iron percentage is double (2X!) Grandma's.

Something to consider.

ps--this is the 2nd best molasses advice I ever got --first is don't use sulpured: Use a spray oil on measuring cups. That way the molasses just slips out and you get all the goodness.

I'll likely try to buy this local next time, because it is pricey, but the cost is worth it. I used to think all molasses was the same, but, like honey or peanut butter, there is a difference. this has the best taste. I use it for my shake (handful of almonds, an apple or banana, flaxseed, tablespoon of molasses and some whey protein powder and a little soy milk) for an after-workout snack, but plan to try it in cooked dishes as well.

I use Molasses for making pumpernickel bread, so wanted to find a natural molasses to use in the bread. I was pleased to see that Grandma's original molasses has no preservatives or additives, the Ingredients label reads simply "Unsulphured Molasses". So, the product passes my first test of no ingredients that I can not pronounce. Now for the second test . . . I opened the jar and was pleased to immediately detect a deep rich aroma. Then I tasted it, and it was delicious. Deep rich flavor, and the product is very thick as you would want.

Healthy, flavorful, thick and rich . . . what more could you ask for? Five Stars!

Molasses in different forms offer different nutritional value. Original and blackstrap in organic form offers different nutrients than original and blackstrap in conventional form, so infact you get four different forms of molasses with four different nutrients. This is Grandma's molasses is NOT organic, it is conventional, NOT black strap either so a huge difference in the nutritional values. These are NOT grade A molasses either. Grandma's Original is one of the best cooking molasses but certainly not good for me who consumes molasses for nutritional value. Grandma offers very low calcium 2%, iron 2%, magnesium 2%, potassium 3%=110mg, 60 calories for 15ml or one tbsp of serving. One tbsp of organic molasses offers me 20% iron, 10% calcium which is more than milk's calcium since milk's calcium which is fortified when calcium in molasses is not fortified, 20% potassium, 8% magnesium, and 10% copper. With 40~60 calories and 10~13gr sugar. I only use one tbsp a day in my green tea daily as well as when I am in need of fast energy, without any additives. Potassium stops cramps and this is a life saver. Once opened, I place some in a smaller tightly sealed container and keep it in refrigerator, refill as needed, but consume it in less than 6 months. I am into sports, diet and nutrition and blackstrap molasses' nutritional value varies depending on the quality of the sugar cane or beets from which it was extracted. Honey loses its medicinal value when added to tea but since molasses is a by-product which is heated during the production, further heat does not impact the nutritional value of molasses at all. With all that said, you will still need to get used to the taste since the taste is somewhere around bitter, beet juice and changes the taste of the tea. Bravo.

This price is WAY too high. It's $2.68 at Walmart for the exact same product.

It tastes fine but it's NOT organic
