Quite hard to rate this, but if the idea of a Jewish Little Archie does it for you there's not a lot else out there. Now when is Barbie going to get a Jewish boyfriend? (Or there's Moslem Barbie; collect all her fellow wives!)

I bought this for my nephew as a High-Holiday gift.I didn't realize the book was Passover themed. (I was just looking for something Jewish.) The kid loves it. And then I read it and was thoroughly entertained, too. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars my two year won't go to sleep without it, April 19, 1999

This review is from: Grandma's Seder Plate is Missing!: A Passover Special (Paperback)
When I brought the book home to my two year old daughter I was a little skeptical about whether or not she would appreciate or understand a comic book which seemed to me most suited for kids 5 & up but lo and behold she immediately took to the wonderfully colored illustrations and cute story line. I got it for Purim and since then that is the only book she wants us to read to her. She won't even go to sleep without it. Bravo it's about time there is a real comic book for young jewish kids. To Stan Goldbeg and Leible Estrin keep up the good work my daughter is anxiously awaiting the next edition

4.0 out of 5 stars Real nice illustrations and holiday descriptions., March 4, 1999

I have long been a fan of Goldberg's work, especially the Archie titles. I am happy to see that he has executed some of his finest work for this Passover title. Although Mendy looks much like Archie, the themes are very authentic. I also must compliment the colorist for doing such an outstanding job, using the newest and most innovative techniques in producing this title. It all comes together well on what I consider the best paper used for any comic book yet. A little pricey for a holiday title, but considering that inferior 24 page comic books are selling for over $5.00, this is a bargain!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best Passover guides I have ever seen!, March 4, 1999

This is one of the best Passover guides I have ever seen! Great for the young and old. I received this book as a Purim gift and my kids were glued to it for hours. With only one copy, the older ones were hoarding the issue as the little ones anxiously waited their turn. If you have several youngsters, I suggest get a few copies to keep them at bay!

Stan Goldberg's illustrations are fantastic. It reminds me of my younger days reading Archie. It is nice to see these two comic legends, Goldberg and Grossman team up to create this wonderful piece. Estrin does a superb job in his storyboards, which are excellent for those whom have celebrated Passover previously to the complete novice, celebrating for the very first time.

I have long questioned the lack of creative artistry for the Jewish market. Now all we need is a few more editions like "The Adventures of Mendy"! A job well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars exciting way to convey passover information to all age kids, March 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Grandma's Seder Plate is Missing!: A Passover Special (Paperback)
As a parent of six young children I was delighted by their avid interest in this beautiful book. The wonderful colors and illustrations drew them in and the adorable story kept them raptly engrossed. They quickly identified with the characters as drawn by the Mendy Comics artists due to their familiar professional style reminiscent of popular comic books on the market today. This only reinforced their pride in their Jewish identitiy in a fun, enjoyable manner, which is exactly what I look for when I buy Jewish literature for my family.
