5.0 out of 5 stars The best gift I gave to myself. I gave it to her.
For christmas this year I bought my Grandmother this book and enclosed a letter asking her to go down memory lane and share her feelings with me. The questions in the book are wonderful. I would love to know more than anything on how my grandmother felt growing up herself, and the feelings she had for me on the first time she held me.

I did a Thomas Kinkade memory book for my mother.. it was wonderful and she loved the gift... so I bought these for Christmas for all the grandparents since we just had our first child... however, none of the reviews or information about the book indicated that it is really a religious memory book -- the secondary title is something about faith.

For christmas this year I bought my Grandmother this book and enclosed a letter asking her to go down memory lane and share her feelings with me. The questions in the book are wonderful. I would love to know more than anything on how my grandmother felt growing up herself, and the feelings she had for me on the first time she held me.

The book also allows her to pick out and insert her two favorite pictures of us together. Well detailed questions such as how motherhood affected herself, what she felt on her wedding day, and what she liked about being in her 20's, 30's 40's. The most important question/response I think I am looking forward to hear from her are the goals she hopes that I will acheive and her dreams she has for my future.

I think this is the perfect gift to give to oneself. I explained to her in my letter that this is a gift that I will cherrish a lifetime, and I thanked her for sharing her own memories with me.

I recomend it to anyone who wants to be closer to their grandmother and to their family history as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very conservative assumptions and religious, December 31, 2001

I did a Thomas Kinkade memory book for my mother.. it was wonderful and she loved the gift... so I bought these for Christmas for all the grandparents since we just had our first child... however, none of the reviews or information about the book indicated that it is really a religious memory book -- the secondary title is something about faith.

Not only is it religious, but assumes that the father in each home works and the mother stays at home.. there are questions for the grandmothers about what their mother did at home while the father worked, and what they did at home while their husband worked. My grandmother served as a doctor for the military in WWII, and she was never at home. Neither was my mother at home.

I am making no judgement here. If you come from both a very religious background (the questions center around religion) and also a very traditional family structure, this is a great book. It is, however, nothing like the other Thomas Kinkade books and a true disappointment for people like myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars After giving it to my Mother, I want to get started on mine!, December 29, 1999
This review is from: Grandmother's Memories: To Her Grandchild (A Journal of Faith and Love) (Hardcover)
I saw this book on the shelf and immediately knew I wanted it for my Mother. Before I wrapped it, I read through the beautifully decorated pages, and realized that I wanted it for myself. Alas, they were sold out at the store. I knew that this book would be something that I would want to fill out and give to my grandchild (or grandchildren). I don't have any yet, but most of this book I can write now. This is a lovely book for Christians who want to share their experiences, strengths, and hopes with their future generations. Thank you to Thomas Kinkaid for another truly wonderful book. And thanks to Amazon.com I am getting one for myself!

My Wife and I purchased the whole set of Thomas Kiinkade "Memory" books for our children and grandchildren. Wh have found that our family history does not get passed down to the next generations because we are all so busy. There are many losses in family knowledge because of this.

These books are excellent! They trigger ideas and stories. Our talking about those memberes of our family who have died allow us to also remember them as we saw them. We can give our children a taste of what it was like when we were kids. Unfortunately, we have lost much of the family knowledge because we never heard the stories of our grandparents.

Beautiful pictures are also included in these books. Well done!

Great book, but be prepared for a lot of religious themes! I purchased two for both sets of Grandmas. They LOVED it! I can't wait to get them back to give to my daughter when she's older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandmother's Memories to her Grandchild (Thomas Kincaid), December 23, 2005
This review is from: Grandmother's Memories: To Her Grandchild (A Journal of Faith and Love) (Hardcover)
An exceptional gift for Grandmothers to give their grandchild. We told my mom of the good news that she was going to be a grandma by giving her this book. She has had a great time filling it out and has relived her childhood memories with her syblings in the process. A great book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not suitable for the reality of what many experience today.., October 25, 2003
This review is from: Grandmother's Memories: To Her Grandchild (A Journal of Faith and Love) (Hardcover)
I love the works of Thomas Kinkade and am an avid collector of his books. I purchased this jounal for my first grandchild thinking what a wonderful way for Gabriel to have cherished memories of my mother and dad along with my family.

However, has been two years and have made no entries. This book is written with the assumption everyone has an existing loving family life. I for one was raised with an over abundance of love from both my mother & dad along with siblings. The reference to these pages are beautiful memories which I cherish and wish to pass on to my grandson.

The book has pages of detailed comments to enter about his grampa (my ex husband) and myself.. from our wedding day on. These pages (which are many) I cannot make any reference to which I would want my grandson to read. I am on permanent disability due to physical domestic abuse. And my daughters, one of which is my grandson's mommy, were verbally abused to extreme. Without saying, this book is not suitable for me and others living a like lifestyle.

Needless to say, this book was very disappointing to me. And a large portion of memories I would like to forget and by no means pass on to my grandson.

For those which had a wonderful childhood and present happy marriage/family life.. would be a wonderful journal.

It takes time and thought to complete this book, but I am so glad to leave these thoughts and remembrances of myself and them to my grandchildren. A way to be remembered and help your grandchildren know how much they mean to you.

The journal was purchased as a gift and it was VERY well-received! The new Grandma didn't even know such a journal existed. She is thrilled with it!

Actually this book(journal) was purchased by my mother for her children to be passed on to the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. It is a good way to pass on the memories to the next generation and the next. It is a good tool to use when journaling is a problem for you. I plan to purchase one for each of my children to pass on. My husband has already started his Grandfather's Memories. The Thomas Kincaide pictures are a beautiful addition to the journal.
