A book and pocketful of patchwork pieces.,
By Britt Arnhild Lindland (Norway) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Grandmother's Patchwork Quilt (Hardcover)
After having read and enjoyed Mrs. noah's Patchwork Quilt by Janet Bolton, it was a pleasure to find this similar book, My Grandmother's Patchwork Quilt. The book tells an the story of a small girl living on a farm. The story is told in two ways though, in words, and also in the making of a patchwork quilt. Very charming. We are told the story through one girl, but the story is actually about her grandmother. She tells from her childhood and at the same time she pieces her life in patches. And the huge treat of all, in the book is a pocketful of patches so that you are able to make a story of your life quilt. A perfect way to do a favorite activity with a favorite child, while you tell your own life story. I can recommend this book for all booklovers and all quilters. Britt Arnhild Lindland

A Wonderful Book on Quilting for All Ages,
This review is from: My Grandmother's Patchwork Quilt Hb (Hardcover)
I first saw this book at a used book store, but the patterns in the back flap were long gone. My purchase through Amazon gave me the prize I was looking for...a wonderful story about the life of a little girl on a farm as told through a small doll quilt she made. The pattern pieces and simple instructions will help a young person (or you!) make a similar quilt...or they might be inspired to do one with their own memories. The quilt could even be a piece of art. Highly recommend.

What a great book. I found it very inspirational, as I have just started teaching children to sew. This Is a story of a young farm girl sewing a a quilt in here spare time. She incorporates all that is around her, I wonder what a young girl in today's city would include.. animals and pets she sees each day, family members?
I love that there are small cloth samples in the back pocket and they are printed with the same design so you can make a similar quilt if you chose. lovely story can not wait to read it to a group of new sewers!
