A nicely illustrated journal to record the heartfelt emotions of a grandmother for a grandchild. It covers a variety of information on the subject's life and feelings. A great keepsake. Note: Some of the content might be more suitable for a "traditional" family. I found that some of the questions might be uncomfortable for some family situations.

We wanted to capture all the stories of our parents for our new daughter. We read all the reviews and still could not decide which grandparent memory book would be best. We ordered Memories for My Grandchild, Grandmother's Treasures: Reflections and Remembrances, For My Grandchild: A Grandmother's Gift of Memory (AARP), and A Grandparent's Legacy.

This book, Grandmother's Treasures: Reflections and Remembrances, is a nice square size and less than a half inch thick. It will look nice on the shelf next to other children's books and will be easy for a young grandchild to pick up and read. It is hardcover and the pages are bound into the spine of the book. The pages are shiny, appropriate for pen only, and adorned with cute borders and drawings. Each section of life is given a two-page spread. There are sections for childhood, school, relationship/marriage, starting a family, info on the grandchild's parents, and about the important bits of wisdom that the grandmother wants to pass on to the grandchild - favorite quotes, lessons, places to visit, etc. There are also some plain paper sheets with borders that match various pages tucked in a folder pocket inside the front cover for additional doodles or space to write. There is enough here to give a nice overview of the grandmother's life without prying or being overwhelming. However, it only captures the surface of life events (favorite teachers, least favorite subjects, favorite music, etc.) without asking too many meaningful questions. We decided to give this one to my grandmother after Memories for My Grandchild completely overwhelmed her. She has always talked about how her life would make a great book, but doesn't like to write. Hopefully she'll have a nice time working on this book.

As for the rest of the books, we gave For My Grandchild: A Grandmother's Gift of Memory (AARP) to my husband's grandmother. It is great for traditional relationships, and somewhere between A Grandparent's Legacy and Memories for My Grandchild as far as depth/breadth of questions. My mother-in-law now has the Memories For My Grandchild book and it seems a good fit for her. My father-in-law has A Grandparent's Legacy, which seems great for him as it is traditional, organized into smaller sections to work on, and has fun prompts.

This book is a delight. It is such a gift for your grandchildren. The only problem is that you can't buy just one. I ordered one and then realized that I needed 3 more. It covers it all. The good, the bad and the ugly. If you enjoy any genealogy or family history you will enjoy this peek into the life of grandma or grandpa. Adorable book.

It is really cute, lots of extra space to write down memories and it looks so pretty. Good quality book with hard cover.

Overall I think this book is appropriate for grandmothers who immigrated to the U.S. at some point in their lives. I bought this book instead of others because, while it touches on various subjects like "I came to this country because ______", it isn't intrusive about it. Other topics include things like, "What I want you to remember about our family" etc. I was nervous to purchase a book like this because one of the grandmothers in my family had a very hard early life; however, this book keeps it simple. Overall, very appropriate.

We gave this to my daughter's grandmothers, and they were very excited about writing in them. The book is very nicely illustrated and asks a lot of good questions, but does not make you write forever. It was just what I was looking for!

This book is exactly what I was looking for. It is a great gift as well as for your personal use as well. The Grandmother enters information about their life and their likes and dislikes and then presents the book to their grandchild.

Very, very happy with my purchase. In excellent condition and arrived before it was supposed to. It will help to let my family know things that we might not have discussed beforehand. Thank you very much.

This is a lovely book. I ordered two thinking I would give one as a gift and keep one for myself. It came in plenty of time to give as a Christmas gift.

My best friend is a first-time grandmother and family is everything to her. I chose this book especially for her so that she may one day hand it down to her grandson. It's beautiful in its color, design and layout. There are special pages for personal memories, photos and the family tree. I researched this and other books similar to it and this one came out on top. It's a great value and a beautiful book.
