Editorial Reviews

From the Author

For my grandfathers Murray and Philip who taught me kindness, respect, and that all things are possible.

About the Author

Ken's waterborne career began as a young child after taking a ride with his grandfather on New York's Staten Island ferry. During summer vacations and weekends during high school, Ken worked in boat yards cleaning hulls, caulking seams, painting bottoms and topsides as well as being a mate on fishing boats. Ken worked his way through undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate college aboard his 42-foot, Maine-built lobster boat. He earned his 100-ton Master's license, was a charter boat and delivery captain, as well as instructing others who wanted to do the same. Ken was active in the luxury charter industry, working aboard private yachts along the East Coast and in the Bahamas.

Ken is the author of several children's books and is the recipient of the John Burroughs Award for Nature Spy, published by Simon & Schuster. On the marine side, he was won a Boating Writers International award for technical writing.

Ken is presently a senior editor at Power & Motoryacht magazine living on the island of Manhattan with his wife Linda and daughter Samantha, both of whom are a constant source of inspiration for him.
