Warm and Loving,
This review is from: Grandparent Poems (Hardcover)
I think this Grandparent Poems book reflects the special love that exists between grandparents and their grandchildren. The book, which includes contributions by several noted poets, covers a wide range of experiences that grandparents and grandchildren share together. Some poems also pay tribute to the memory of grandparents who have died. Of course, I'm probably a bit biased in my perceptions regarding Grandparent Poems, since I am the editor/compiler, and several of my own poems are included in the book. But I do feel that the book captures the magical bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. I hope other readers enjoy the book.

Good All-Around Title, However Not a Must Buy,

Reviewed by Priscilla Ing, Howard Elementary, Eugene SD For more visit www.lane.k12.or.us/bookreview This is a collection of poems representing seventeen poets. Softly colored, realistic illustrations by Layne Johnson enhance the varied themes of the many poems about grandmothers and grandfathers. Some deal with a child¹s descriptions of his/her grandparent and some are shared memories of grandparents who have passed or were never known personally. These poems could be used as examples in a study of poetry or shared at a grandparents¹ day program. Its construction follows the traditional format, with an index of first lines and a short review of each contributing poet. The book itself seems to be more appropriate in a personal collection rather than a school.

Grandparent Poems: Heartwarming!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grandparent Poems (Hardcover)
Many of the poems in Grandparent Poems bring back poignant memories of my grandparents and parents while the rich and beautiful watercolor paintings bring the poems to life. I especially love theses poems and paintings: Big Mama, When Grandpa Reads to Me, Summer Twilight, The Picture, Still, and I Remember Grandma. Absolutely beautiful! Layne Johnson has illustrated a wide variety of grandmas and grandpas, evoking a rich cultural heritage. What a wonderful book to give as a gift to any grandparent, parent or grandchild.
