5.0 out of 5 stars Great program, great ideas... not poltically motivated!
I've not only read several of the "Love and Logic" series of books, but was first introduced to Love and Logic as an elementary and middle school teacher in the 1990's. We found many valuable teaching methods to help us deal with many different situations that arise in the classroom. Later on, as a parent, my husband and I took some classes on "parenting with love and...

1.0 out of 5 stars outdated- advocates spanking
I have been a huge advocate of all the other Love and Logic books, and am greatly disappointed to see that this book advocates spanking. The more recent publications do not. This book needs to be released with a correction to the spanking portion, or pulled from the marked entirely, as it does not comply with the author's current views on spanking. I WAS planning on...

I've not only read several of the "Love and Logic" series of books, but was first introduced to Love and Logic as an elementary and middle school teacher in the 1990's. We found many valuable teaching methods to help us deal with many different situations that arise in the classroom. Later on, as a parent, my husband and I took some classes on "parenting with love and logic" and again found many useful tools to use in our arsenal of ideas to help us be the best parents we could be with our kids. We have three between the ages of 9 months and 9 years!!! We need all the tools and great ideas we can get!
I am now purchasing the "Grandparenting with Love and Logic" book for my parents to help them remember how to be "grandparents" and not "Parents" to my brothers and my kids.
The previous review really baffles me... Focus on the Family is a great program by Dr. James Dobson, who also has written some wonderful books. Yes, it's a Christian based program... so if you have an issue with this... then there ya go! THis series of books are NOT written by Dr. JAmes Dobson however!!! Obviously, the previous reviewer has some serious issues with Christianity and was very politically motivated in his own review of these books.
Get these books if you want to add some great and very powerful tools to your toolbox for raising kids and grandkids! I highly recommend taking any classes if they come to your area as well!!! This program is used in the PUBLIC schools ALL across the USA for training teachers (and has been for the last 2 decades!)... they MUST be doing something right!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not sure B. Beaux's agenda but this book is phenominal!, August 18, 2006
This review is from: Grandparenting With Love & Logic: Practical Solutions to Today's Grandparenting Challenges (Hardcover)
B. Beaux's review is not even for this book - it seems as though his political agenda should be put in a blog not a book review. I was a teacher so I am extremely familiar with Love and Logic - they are based out of Evergreen - not Colorado Springs and have no affiliation with any "christian cult".
I gave this book to my mother and it is so refreshing to have parents and grandparents on the same page as far as dealing with the kids goes. It helps avoid a ton of potential arguements. My mother and father just loved it! They actually told me they wished this was around when I was younger because they would have loved to use it on me (I was a bit of a trouble maker).

I WAS planning on giving the book as a gift to my parents. Instead, I am returning the book to amazon.com at my cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good advice for grandparents, March 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read Parenting with Love & Logic as our grandchildren are successfully being raised this way. I was pleased to find out that the authors had a book specifically for us grandparents. The principles are explained clearly and examples are given of how to apply them. I think the ideas can be helpful in other relationships with children such as Sunday School teaching.

Very good information for the grandparent to follow, to aid the parents and back them up. Consistancy helps both the child and the parents and I found this very helpful.

We really were not able to give a first hand review of this book, but based on all the other Love and Logic books we have studied we have much confidence in it.
