Book Description

August 15, 2004
This book is not only a gift to grandparents, but a wonderful resource for parents and others who work with children. The information is comprehensive and the list of resources invaluable. Fridstein tells it like it is, acknowledging the variations of family constellations, while creating safety for grandparents feelings about their role. Never overly clinical, it is flavored lovingly, honestly, and humorously. Her words comfort and inspire.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Huge Help, September 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Grandparenting: A Survival Guide: How Better to Understand Yourself, Your Children, and Your Children's Children (Paperback)
This book has been unbelievably hepful to me and my husband. When we first knew we were to become a gandparents, we were delighted. If anyone had told me then that I would be interested in reading an advice book on GRANDPARENTING, I would have laughed at them. Since we had parented children, naturally we would know about grandparenting. But, wow, are things different. This book had been a wonderful resource to us. It seems to answer every question we have. We now have four grandchildren. I have urged the parents of these children to read this book. It is every bit as good as the many books they buy on parenting. I highly recommmend GRANDPARENTING: A SURVIVAL GUIDE to grandparents and parents for solid advice.

This slim readibly readable guide on grandparenting is a valuable resource for all grandparents. The vignettes at the beginning of most chapters bring the text alive with it's personal narrative style. Written in 'lay person' language and backed up with professional research, it is a handy volumn to take out when concerns arise or to research the developing stages of growing grandchildren. It covers a wjide range ot current day issues and is a book to keep handy to help understand and deal with issues that can arise from day to day.
