My 2nd Graders Love This Book!,
By Sharolyn (Pontotoc, MS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grandpa's Teeth (Hardcover)
This funny story about Grandpa's missing teeth is sure to be a favorite for children ages 6-9! After the family has searched everywhere, the police is called in to assist with the search. With the aid of a sketch artist, wanted posters, a police lineup, and even an interview on a tv show, "Unsolved Crimes", they still can't find the culprit. Every one in town walks around smiling so that they won't be hauled into the police station as a suspect. The town gets into such an uproar that a special town meeting is called by the mayor in an effort to come up with a solution. You'll be surprised to see who the culprit was at the end of the story!Note to teachers: This would be a great book to incorporate into your "Family" studies or to read on Grandparent's Day in Sept. It provides opportunity to talk about people in a community working together to help others. Hey, you could even tie it in with National Dental Week in February . . .Don't forget to brush those teeth!

SECOND AND THIRD GRADERS IN TEXAS VOTE THIS THEIR FAVORITE!,
By rowland@wcnet.net (El Campo, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grandpa's Teeth (Hardcover)
DATELINE...HUTCHINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL , EL CAMPO, TEXAS, MARCH 5, 1999. In a reading program called "Ricebird Readers" after the local sports mascot, second and third graders voted GRANDPA'S TEETH by Rod Clement their favorite book for the 1998-99 school year. The competition includes 19 other selections chosen by the Elementary librarian based on recommended books for the previous year which would be of interest to seven and eight year olds. These books were read to the students by teachers, the librarian, and local volunteer readers over a period of six months. After all students have heard all twenty (20) books, a pep rally is held and then they return to their classroom to vote by "secret" ballot for their favorite. Approximately 500 students voted this year at Hutchins Elementary in El Campo, Texas. GRANDPA'S TEETH got over 100 of those votes to win first place. Second place was THE GHOST OF SIFTY SIFTY SAM by Angela Shelf Meaderis, and third place was HEY, NEW KID by Betsy Duffey. I would like to congratulate Mr. Clement for such an entertaining and obviously popular book! Sincerely, Judy Rowland Elementary Librarian El Campo, Texas

Hilarious!!!,

My 4 yr. old son, his grandmothers, aunt, and I all loved this book. We read it on a trip in the car and we all laughed, especially when my mom read it (she made the toothless parts hysterical). My son cried when we had to take the book back to the library, so I am buying it for him from amazon. I think we adults enjoyed it just as much as he did. A must-have for preschoolers!!!!

Grandpa's Teeth- Mr. Truman's Fifth Grade Class,
By A Customer
This review is from: Grandpa's Teeth (Hardcover)
It was a funny, amazing and interesting book. The way Grandpa talked was funny. It was hilarious when grandpa had to check everybody's teeth. The part when he thought the next door neighbor had his teeth was humorous. The ending was a surprise!

Grandpa's Teeth,
By Katherine A. Tacea (Signal Hill Elem. School, Signal Hill, Ca. United States) - See all my reviews

The book was a mystery because we didn't know where his teeth would end up! The book had great illustrations. It was really funny when Grandpa was yelling with no teeth in his mouth. We liked it when the townspeople had to smile to prove that they were innocent. There was a good surprise at the end and we recommend this book for all ages!

"Help I've been robbed",
By Miss Dahl (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grandpa's Teeth (Trophy Picture Books) (Paperback)
"Help I've been robbed" the opening line of "Grandpa's Teeth" has become one of my 3 yr olds favorite sayings since reading this very creative and very funny children's mystery. It cracks me up hearing her yell it throughout the house and it was actually quite simple to explain to her what "being robbed" meant thanks to "swiper the fox" from Dora! The story is actually quite hilarious thanks to how you have to hear poor grandpa struggle to pronounce everything without his pearly whites making this book a fun read, but some of the humor may be lost on the younger tots but the strength in that is its a book that they can grow along with and eventually read to themselves. Grandpa who happens to be quite a messy soul (though he blames it on "gump" his dog) has some of the finest teeth around made by a swiss craftsmen he awakens one day and finds them missing from his cup by his bedside so of course after searching high and low they call the police and report them missing (afterall replacing them would cost a fortune) and from then on everyone becomes a suspect causing the townspeople to just smile everyday, every minute which is of course making everyone crazy and scaring the tourists so something needs to be done cause his teeth just aren't turning up! they've rounded up suspects but most of them were missing teeth themselves!! and sure they try to cheer grandpa up by taking him the fair but that only makes him feel worse and you'll see just why when you buy the book. The illustrations are fantastic with amazing tiny little details and very expressive faces! But the kicker is who the culprit in the end is thats sure to make even the biggest kid smile. I recommend for ages 3-9

This book was wonderful... I used it in a writing lesson with my kids and they loved it! It's a great book to use with all elementary levels. My 2nd graders picked up on what was happening quickly and wanted me to read the book again.

OHMIGOSH! This is the perfect book in preschool when you need a "G" book! But even better than that, it's a GREAT book to read aloud, with a delightful ending! I like the way a twist of sharing in the book provides a subliminal message to the children of why someone might appear grumpy when in reality, they just don't like their smile. This is the 3rd purchase of the book because I've had to share it with fellow teacher friends :) Good for preschool as well as up to 2nd? grade.

I just bought this book for my second grade class. My 19-year-old daughter read it at home. She visited my classroom and insisted she be the one to read the book to my class. The kids loved the story. Poor Grandpa's teeth are missing! There are several suspects. The "mystery" is solved with the last illustration. About half of my students "got it" but, regardless, all of the children enjoyed the story immensely.

This book was very interesting and for all ages! Grandpa loses his teeth and everybody has to smile because he wants to see if someone has his teeth. The drawings are very funny because the illustrator puts teeth in most of the pictures. The book shows pictures of Grandpa trying on different sizes of teeth. It was funny because Grandpa couldn't talk well. It's a good book and we give it two thumbs up!
