The GXP280 is a next generation small business SIP phone that features 1 line appearance, 128x32 graphic LCD, 3 XML programmable softkeys, and dual 10M/100Mbps network ports. It is an affordable choice for a SOHO user needing a feature rich, 1-line IP phone. The GXP280 delivers superior audio quality, comprehensive telephony features, automated provisioning, security protection for privacy and broad interoperability with most 3rd party SIP devices, gateways and leading soft-switch platforms. The product has 1 line appearance with FLASH to handle 2 simultaneous calls, offers support for multiple languages (including English, Spanish, German, French, etc) and headset jacks (both 2.5mm and RJ22 jack). Like the other models in the GXP IP phone series, the product is equipped with high fidelity wideband audio and a full-duplex speakerphone with advanced acoustic echo cancellation. Features are pretty basic, but the price was hard to beat.

Our VoIP provider (voiSip) was able to configure our phones remotely in a couple of minutes.

REVIEW UPDATE:

After using these phones for awhile, I just can't recommend them.

Grandstream support is non-existant, the firmware seems very buggy and many features don't work correctly.

Our VoIP provider (voiSip) suggested we switch over to Yealink brand phones, and everything works perfectly now.

Avoid Grandstream.

so i've been experimenting with VoIP lately, using a voip client on my android cell phone. pretty nifty and saves on overages, even if the voice quality is inconsistent. sometimes it's excellent, other times there's a delay and quite a bit of noise.

I bought the GXP-280 after seeing the endorsement of my VoIP provider to use in parallel with my cell VoIP. I bought the GXP-280 handset and discovered that the device comes with no instructions, a thin online manual (that tells you how to plug it in, basically), and virtually no support on the Grandstream forum. for the last two weeks, even my VoIP provider has had no instructions on how to set up the very phone that they endorsed!

bottom line, this isn't a phone for someone who isn't extremely well-versed in VoIP technology and jargon. I have a good head on my shoulders, but no engineering degree, which makes this phone an expensive paperweight.

because i havent used it, I have no idea of the voice quality, but it looks nice sitting quietly on my desk. oddly, it does put out a LOT of heat from the base, suggesting that it might be an energy hog.

Very difficult to program, and you have to reprogram the phone every time you disconnect it from the wall because cause the data gets wiped off.
