Book Description

April 22, 2010
From its global headquarters in Boston, the mysterious Occlusionist Movement seeks to control the world with the mysterious Digital Eucharist, while in the serpentine bowels of the city an ancient demon is unleashed, eager for revenge against the man who imprisoned it years ago--Hiram Grange!

On the heels of the release of Hiram Grange and the Twelve Little Hitlers, Rob Davies' intelligent and uproarious novella, Hiram Grange & the Digital Eucharist, has challenged the boundaries of adventure horror fiction. Eucharist is the third installment in the Scandalous Misadventures of Hiram Grange series.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Digital Eucharist is positively rife with... striking imagery that sings across the tongue. His style quite fondly reminds me of Choir of Ill Children-era Tom Piccirilli, a type of magick spun in ink across the page. --Anton Cancre, Horror News

[Davies] writes scenes of graphic horror with the same skill he uses to create scenes of humor so dark a gallon of cream couldn't lighten them...  --Erik Smith, Monster Librarian

About the Author

ROBERT DAVIES writes stories about lobster girls and laser beams. Mimetic fiction is for wimps. Raised on a steady diet of weird paperbacks, Infocom games, and comic books, Rob has always wanted to be a writer (Well, actually, he first wanted to be a dinosaur, but that didn't work out so well). When not writing, Rob likes to travel around the world, searching for the ideal pint and the perfect bookstore. He lives in Somerville, Massachusetts, with his wife Sara and two cats, Lilith and Tiamat.

His short stories have appeared in The Year's Best Dark Fantasy & Horror 2010, Weird Tales, Shroud Magazine, Black Static, Interzone, and Murky Depths.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hiram Grange Continues to Rock!, April 30, 2010

This review is from: Hiram Grange and the Digital Eucharist (The Scandalous Misadventures of Hiram Grange, Book #3, Vol. 1) (Paperback)
The book starts fast and never lets up momentum. Davies' writing style is engaging, with the perfect amount of description and action. The plot pulls you from chapter to chapter, just as any good book should. I love Hiram Grange, and this is a fantastic addition to the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hiram Returns !, April 30, 2010
This review is from: Hiram Grange and the Digital Eucharist (The Scandalous Misadventures of Hiram Grange, Book #3, Vol. 1) (Paperback)
Hiram Grange returns in this third installment and meets all my dark expectations. In this story, Hiram struggles with his own haunted past and the twisted machinations of abyssal science. Author Rob Davies is a creative and fast-pace writer who knows his occult lore and Boston well. I enjoyed the novella through and through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hiram actually grows with every book, February 17, 2011
This review is from: Hiram Grange and the Digital Eucharist (The Scandalous Misadventures of Hiram Grange, Book #3, Vol. 1) (Paperback)
Digital Eucharist begins with a glimpse into one of Hiram's past battles, against a demon, alongside two gris-gris practitioners. We then meet up with modern-day Hiram, months after the death of his beloved Sadie (ooops...SPOILER ALERT! But seriously, a pox on you if you're reading this review and haven't read the first two books). Grange not only has to deal with the emptiness and guilt he's feeling over Sadie, but also with the sins he committed during the course of the aforementioned demon fight. Whether he can do this while fighting said demon again while thwarting an evil cult's new mind-control technology is the question.

Hiram Grange and the Digital Eucharist and Hiram Grange and the Chosen One share an underlying theme, moreso that any other pairing of Hiram Grange books. What makes this even more of an accomplishment is that it was effected not by one author, but by two: Robert Davies and Kevin Lucia respectively.

The best things about these books, in my humble opinion, is that Hiram actually grows with every book. People important to the story line really are mere mortals. And Hiram, as deserving of contempt as he can sometimes be, manages to shine through as a hero, reluctant or otherwise, in the end. He may even have a chance at redemption someday, or at least a lesser degree of damnation.
