Product Description

Product Description

Like its predecessors, The Blaze AC 60 is Spartan in its simplicity and features our engineered AirCurrent suspension. The AirCurrent suspension consists of a 3-dimensionally molded alloyed frame, our quickest torso length adjustment system, padded shoulder straps, and a swappable hip belt for a custom fit. The AC frame has molded air channels, works in conjunction with a molded foam pad and durable stretch mesh to aid in venting heat and moisture away from the back; allowing for natural evaporating cooling. The pack body is a simple, lidless top loader with a tall spindrift opening that can be cinched and rolled down tight for weather resistance and also expanded when extra space is needed. The arched Line-Loc compression system allows the load to be cinched tight in every direction (side, front, and top) as well as allowing additional gear to be lashed to the pack. The Line-Loc cord can easily be replaced if it wears out from extended use. Durable and versatile stretch mesh pockets on the bottom of the pack sides work well for water bottles, while the tall front center pocket is great for damp tarps or ultralight tents.

How to Measure Your Torso to Choose the Best Back Pack Size:
To find your torso length, measure the distance between your seventh cervical vertebra and the shelf of your hipbones. Do this by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Tilt your head forward and place your hands on your hips, thumbs to the back. With a flexible tape, have someone measure from the most prominent vertebra at the base of your neck to an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This will be your torso length.

Please note: Each framesheet has fine adjustment settings spaced in one inch increments to further fine-tune your fit. If you are a 17-inch torso, it is recommended to try the short torso first.

Ultralight Pack Belt (comes standard):
Granite Gear's Ultralight Pack Belt is a soft belt with no plastic exoskeleton like Granite Gears other belts. This lighter belt is more comfortable when carrying smaller loads of 40 pounds or less. Although it is Granite Gear's simplest interchangeable belt, it still boasts the Pivot Point connection, hip stabilizers, dual density foam, and a stretch woven fabric.

Hip Belt Size Specifications:

  • Small: 26 to 30 inch hip diameter
  • Medium: 30 to 34 inch hip diameter
  • Large: 34 to 38 inch hip diameter

Haven't hiked much with it yet but it fits all my gear and even with my 15lb baseline packout, it only feels like I'm wearing an extra belt. If you're looking for a light pack, yes, there are plenty of packs that are lighter but this one finds that happy place between super light/crazy expensive and kind of heavy/stupid cheap. Not a lot of bells and whistles but worth the extra money.

This is my first pack and I love it, it's super comfortable, holds plenty of stuff and is very light. I'm pretty sure its not for this but the kidney belts have straps on them and a MOLLE II canteen pouch fits almost perfectly, it's right in reach and can hold a variety of stuff.

- edit - i actually got the "Granite Gear Blaze A.C. 60 Backpack - 3350-3660cu in" not quite sure what the difference is. I guess the "torso" meant it would be smaller? but it comes in different sizes also. Not sure why amazon has torso in the name, but according to the specs its the exact same back pack as the one i got.

I did not buy this back pack off amazon, however i thought i might as well post a review. I have only had this backpack for a week and have yet to go backpacking with it. I do live in the seirra nevada mountains and go hiking with it loaded down with 25 pounds of weight though.

------------------------------
Pros :

hipbelt and shoulder straps have alot of padding
compression straps make this able to hold a week of food, or a day pack. ( when i say a week thats assuming u are trying to be somewhat light weight )
Design and colors are to "my" preference
Hardly notice it on my back when kept under 30-35 pounds
Super comfortable

cons :

Was hoping the back would ventilate sweat better, but its not any worse then any other back pack i have owned. ospery exos will be your best bet in that department

Doesnt have alot of pockets but i dont really consider this a con since i am used to these style of backpacks. Others might though.

-----------------------------------------------------

I have only used one frameless backpack which was the golite jam 2. I liked it but i really couldn't get over the fact that the hipbelt and shoulder straps had 0 padding almost. Now if you are a ultra light weight backpacker then you dont need alot of padding. However, i tend to carry 20-30 pounds and not having padding was just not cutting it for me.
