Durable and Inexpensive, September 3, 2006
This is truly and excellent product for the price. The material and the make of the sack seems unbreakable, which is very important if like in my case you are moving your gear frequently. The best is that you can choose the size according to your needs since it comes in ten different sizes. Be sure to check in the product features the volume and dimensions in order to choose exactly what you need if you don't want to pay more than you really need.
In my case I bough #8 and I was not disappointed at all.

Very Nice Stuff Sack, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Granite Gear Toughsack Stuff Sack (Misc.)
This is a wonderful product. I have one in the 3Liter size (#2) , and I find it very useful. When I'm traveling, I "stuff" socks, underwear, and other things that can be wrinkled in to one of these bags. It helps to organize my bag, and it saves space via compression. On that note, I stuff mine full hard, very hard. The bag is like a log of wood once I've packed it full, and it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of wear after 1 year of solid use. That's a huge plus (and what you'd expect from what the bag promises). As a trip progresses, I like to use the bag as a dirty laundry bag (because if it's going in the laundry, I don't care if it's wrinkled or not). This allows me to segregate my clothing, and, at the end of the trip repack my bag with clean and dirty clothing, and make sure the clean clothing stays clean.
Off the top of my head, what could I fit in the 3 liter:
3 pairs of dress socks
3 pairs boxer briefs
1 pair of athletic shorts
1 long sleeve tech tee
2 men's swimsuits (not board shorts, smaller suits)
1 pair of goggles
(I think that's everything. I can't remember perfectly, and it may very well be that I fit one or two more pieces of clothing in there).
Some additional thoughts:
The bag doesn't hold any smell in my experience. Like I said, I pack it full of dirty clothing, and I've never felt like it held a dirty smell.
It's pretty water resistant (I'm not sure why some reviewers are deducting stars because the bag isn't waterproof -- I don't see where it makes that claim in the description). I've used the bag to hold a wet towel, swimsuit, and/or super sweaty clothing, and the moisture stays in the bag just fine. When I use the bag in this manner, I do give it a quick rinse (sweat, yuck!). When rinsing the bag, I typically fill it with water, swirl the water around, then turn the bag inside out to dry. You'll notice I said "fill it with water," and that's because the bag is in fact so water resistant that it fills and holds water pretty well. You'll get some water start dripping through the seam at the bottom, but not bad. In a pinch, it could work as a bladder to carry water from a water source to a camp fire. Maybe some of you gear junkies might even try hitting it with some water-proofing spray; in that case, the bag may not leak at all, but you are getting beyond its intended use.
Having said all that, I love mine, and I'm going to get another. My only really minor complaint is that I'd like to see a handle sewn to the side. Like a simple piece of webbing tacked at the ends and running the length of the bag. It would make it easier to strap to my pack. And, you can strap it to your pack without worries, because the material is strong enough to take a beating.
Great bag. Worth the money. Enjoy it. If you have any questions, leave a comment!
Take Care
