looks like a great pot, but i'll never get to try it. says on the box that it cannot be used on a glasstop / ceramic stove. Amazon fails to mention that in the description, so here i am returning a huge pot!

canning time,

We needed a new canning pot; but the stainless steel ones were so far beyond our budget and canning time was fast approaching. This Granite Ware pot appears well made and worked as expected. I'm not sure what more there is to say. Good price, works well...:)

This pot is huge and great for cooking lobsters. I cooked 4 large lobsters in the pot and it was great. Pot can be used for canning if anyone still cans things. Would be great for a large gumbo to be cooked in.

Amazing,

I purchased this Granite Ware 34-quart
to make 20lbs of Colossal Kind Crab Legs for 15 people staying with us the night before Thanksgiving. We never dreamed we could make all 20lbs at once..... We did, however, need a forklift to carry the pot (filled with water)from the sink to the stove. Next time - I will fill half-way, and use a (gallon) milk container to fill the remainder.

Great, huge pot, and very lightweight. I use it for brining 20+ pound turkeys at Thanksgiving.

I actually returned this pot because it was so huge! I wanted a big pot for lobsters, clams, and steamers, or even just a few pounds of pasta if I have a pasta party. This thing is way bigger than I imagined. I guess I should have paid more attention to the dimensions, but I didn't. The pot looked great and I'm sure some people have lots of uses for a pot this big. But I don't. It was my fault, and I'm grateful that they took it back.

I got this for brewing full 5 gallon batches of beer. It works well for that, being about the biggest post I could reliably fit on my stove. Being a bit wide rather than super tall, it's a little easier to work under the stove hood for stirring, etc. But if you fill this thing up, prepare for a hernia if you try to move it around. You're talking about 50 pounds or more, here.

Perfect !!!!!!!!!
I owned a 21 quart...needed a larger WIDER one for the 5 pound lobsters...and bought this one...identical to my old....it is similar to those old looking metal cups that cowboys used around the campfire. There is nothing on the market this large...and wide...for the money...I researched it thoroughly. And...for you lobster lovers...after 60 years...I finaally discovered that larger lobster should be sold for less per pound...as they get larger in size....How about a 5 pounder for $5.99 per pound...At the RIGHT fish market if you are near the coast...you can find them....the larger size markets that also wholesale. |
