Product Description

Size: 12 quarts

This 12 Qt covered stock pot will fill a large portion of your cooking needs. A versatile and handy 4 quart stock pot. Columbian's technology for applying porcelain creates a durable, chip resistant product that will last most families a lifetime. The glass-like surface does not interact with or alter the taste of food, and even the most stubborn foods clean up easily. Porcelain is fused to the steel at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit producing a non-porous, inert glass surface that is naturally non-stick. It’s non-porous so it won’t trap odors or food particles and provides a low coefficient of friction – meaning that it cleans up easily and, it is corrosion and chemically resistant so it will last a long time. When fired, the vessel is placed on pins so the bottom and sides are hardened during the firing process into one smooth laminated glass surface. You may notice slight pin indentations where the glass has flowed around the pin that supports the base during firing. The pin marks do not compromise the finish or performance of the vessel. Porcelain can chip if dropped, however this does not reduce the effectiveness of the cookware. Not recommended for glass cooktops. Black.

I love this pot. It is great but buyers should understand that the label on this pot states that it is not to be used on glass tops, although the description of the items as shown on Amazon does not indicate this important fact. It is a great pot for gas stoves or electric burner stoves but not for glass top. Unfortunately, I have a glass top stove but I will not return this item because by the time I pay postage, this is no longer a good deal. I will give it to my daughter-in-law who does not have a glass top. She will love it because it is actually a good stock pot.

I love Graniteware. I have roasters, pie and loaf pans, and one with a strainer insert for spaghetti or steaming. They cook well, and wash very easily, even with the baked-on bits you may get when cooking meat loafs.

This particular pot was purchased to store water that I purify in my Pro-Pur gravity purifier (I have the one with single filter which filters out fluoride). I wanted a large vessel that does not have the potential to leech metals into the standing water, and Granite Ware's coating is actually made of glass. And, the price ireally cannot be beat.

As far as making stocks goes, this is just as good as a stainless steel pot, or one of the very expensive pots that serve the same purpose. Considering the hours that you will be simmering your bones and other ingredients -which can be more than 12 hours- it really is a smart choice to use a pot that will not leech the pot's interior coating into your stock. It has been years since I dumped my teflon and aluminum cookware, and finding an innocuous huge pot can be very pricey indeed.

That's why I go back to basics. A good choice for the discerning cook, even when price is no object!.

It is exactly what I needed for making soups! It's a big, light, stock pot that cleans easy and cooks well! Arrived perfectly packaged with no dents or chips. Amazon packaging rules! (If not, so does their return policy :P) The material is sturdy enough, and one of the cheapest pots around. Definitely would recommend this to a friend.

I got this pot for steralizing jars and it's perfect! It fits half pints, pints and quarts upright. The picture doesn't give adequate depth but it's deep enough for your basic canning needs (as I'm a brand new canner).

Great pot for making soup and pasta , it is tall enough to cook spaghetti without having to break it in half . I also made 3 pots of different soups in this pot it heats evenly on the bottom , even the cream based soup cooked perfectly no sticking on the bottom . I think it is a great value. The best part was how nice and easy the clean up was no scrubbing needed it just wiped right up with soap and water and a soft sponge . I really like this pot and plan to buy other sizes.

Pot will burn everything cooked in it if used on a glass top stove due to thin bottom. Great value and worked fine with previous stoves.

I remembered these pots from when I was a child and my mother only got rid of them because she got remarried and got a different set and didn't have the space for them so when I found this on Amazon I was thrilled, ordered it and received out within a week. It gets a lot of use (daily) since I love boiled veggies. It is also good for pastas and potatoes... just keep in mind this is 4Qt. So it isn't for big family cooking. It is great quality.I would recommend the company to anyone.I would recommend this size pot for college students, single people, couples, and the elderly whose children have all moved out. Also the pot is very light weight which is great since it is usually filled with water for cooking.
