Was looking for a canning set for my first canning foray. Pretty pleased with this purchase; all the tools did what I needed of them extremely well.
Probably the most important tool was the jar lifter (who wants to break a jar of their home canned vegetables, especially when they happen to be heated to boiling temperature?); this lifter feels solid. You can easily get a firm grip which allows you to confidently transfer the cans in and out of your canner. The other metal tools feel equally solid. The plastic pieces (funnel and magnetic grabber) feel lighter and flimsier, but worked adequately. I would've preferred a stronger magnet, but this one didn't drop any lids.
My only complaint is that I didn't really care for an extra set of tongs; they're unnecessary, as the title states: who doesn't already own a good set of tongs? I felt like the manufacturer should cut those out and cut the price.

I'm new at canning and got this set to go along with my new Presto 1781 23-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/Canner. I must say I needed some of these little gadgets more than I thought I would!! I would say it is a must for anyone starting out with canning and a really great deal for the price!! So far everything is working well and seems to be sturdy enough. I have canned about 10-15 batches with them and they are working out excellently!
