4.0 out of 5 stars A little too big.
This item is well built and certainly big enough for any fish a regular family is likely to buy from the supermarket. The biggest problem with it, unfortunately, is also its size. Specifically, it does not fit in my oven. Steaming over two stove burners, however, is a possible application.

I thought these looked great, especially for the sale price and with a 4 for 3 promotion, too, so I bought four with the idea of giving three away. I used mine one time to bake dressing in on Thanksgiving. After a gentle washing, I found four chips in the finish - one the size of a dime on the inside where the handle is attached (I wonder who ate it?) and three on the...

If you buy the wild salmon fillet from Costco, this is the perfect pan to use to bake or poach. It also is the perfect shape for 2 pork loins to be baked. As the other reviewer noted, due to the loop shaped protruding handles, I had to angle the pan to get it to fit inside my standard sized oven. Although it is dishwasher safe I plan to hand wash it due to its size. Also I want to minimize rust (I have an old canning pot I use to cook crabs in and it's about 20 years old and just now is starting to rust where it was scratched). This pan is very sturdy so it should give many years of service. Actually I think the stainless steel rack alone is worth the current price of this pan. Enjoy this great deal.

I thought these looked great, especially for the sale price and with a 4 for 3 promotion, too, so I bought four with the idea of giving three away. I used mine one time to bake dressing in on Thanksgiving. After a gentle washing, I found four chips in the finish - one the size of a dime on the inside where the handle is attached (I wonder who ate it?) and three on the exterior bottom. The chips on the bottom seem to have pinholes into the metal.

These poachers give the appearance of quality out of the package, but the performance I experienced indicates they are not. One star for one use.

Like others, my Graniteware arrived damaged with a divot gouged out of the porcelain below the waterline - surely a point of rust through and taste contamination. In addition, the interior and exterior porcelain near one of the handles had flaked off. The purchase was a total bust and promptly returned. Save time and get yourself a stainless one.

I purchased this poacher for my husband for his Father's Day present. He had always wanted to try poaching fish and so he made swordfish, using the grill to cook on, and the pan worked GREAT. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, in case poaching was something we did not like and yet I feel I got my money's worth plus MUCH more. Very nice pan and highly recommended.

I bought this as a gift for a couple I know. They use it for fish and more. I peeked in at it before wrapping, and was suprised at the size. But it fits in their oven just fine. It seems very well made, and you can't beat it for the price.

The poacher it self is great. but be aware of it arriving damaged. I had the first one arrive all bent out of shape.
sent it back and got a replacement that was also damaged. Third time i got a replacement it was still damaged but usable. I didn't pay much for it. I guess you get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large, quality poacher, September 20, 2009

This review is from: Graniteware 22-1/2-Inch Fish Poacher with Rack (Kitchen)
The poacher arrived in perfect condition, no chips or flaws in the enamel coating. This poacher is big, I have to turn it diagonally to fit it into the oven, but I needed a big pan so this fits my needs. I haven't used it to poach fish, I needed something to braise whole racks of ribs and this works better than wrapping them in foil- it never springs leaks. I clean it by hand since it is too large for my dishwasher. Quality item if you have need for it.

Aware that it is not permitted to cite the Friday sale price of an item after the deal has expired, allow me to say that at about 80 percent off the manufacturer's suggested full retail price, this was a bargain too good to pass up since I know many fine cooks as I work in a fine natural foods emporium. I bought it in anticipation of learning of an elopement and I needed to find a splashy inexpensive gift which said "wedding" but not "why wasn't I invited to the reception. Here is my ticket price." Anyway I really like it and I hope the people I bought it for actually make it formal before I give it to someone else. It really is quite grand but not too fancy.
