When nothing else worked, Grant's Kills Ants came to the rescue!,
By DK (La Palma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grants 100500090 10-Count Ant Bait & Trap Stakes (Lawn & Patio)
I've bought other ant baits before such as raid, etc. But the ants would always ignore them. It would be so bad that if they were to ever "fall for it" I think I'd bust out the champagne and start having a celebration because that would never happen. I'd get so desperate I'd drop it right in front of them. They'd freak out of course and run the opposite direction and then I'd have to kill them myself.
Our ant problem got so bad last year that any drop of grease on the kitchen, any candy wrapper left loosely wrapped would be swarmed with ants in a few hours. We sure kept our house EXTREMELY tidy last year. We were about to give up until my fiancee's sister recommended Grant's Kills Ants to us. I figured what the hey, so I found them over at OSH. I noticed at the store that although the packaging was the same on the outside, some had metal containers (as shown in my picture) and others had plastic. I went for the metal one cuz it just seemed that much cooler. And it was the same price. Looking on the side of the box, Arsenic.. are you kidding me?? This stuff is no joke! Anyways, came back home laid them out. Listening to a tip from someone else, I made sure to stir the gel-like mixture inside the container with a toothpick. Make sure you dispose of this properly as it contains arsenic. Then the waiting game begins. Ok, it probably won't happen immediately, heck it might even take a few days. But just wait. I happened to get lucky and place one right next to where their nest thing was. It was a hole along the crevice where the carpet and wall met. But I later found out that's where they were all coming from. The trap that I left near there was literally almost completely consumed after they discovered it. A solid line of ants could be visible going to/from the trap and their little hiding place. Going up along the wall, following the outline of the stairs. This was visible for about 3 straight days. Then one morning, as I was washing the dishes from across the kitchen, I turned around to check out the line of ants. Then I saw this HUGE black thing walking along the tiny black moving line. I ran over to get better look and it was the QUEEN ANT! I took a pair of tweezers and yanked it out of the line, so none of the other ants would suspect anything and before the queen could give off some warning chemicals or whatever they emit. So I ran it over to the bathroom and drowned it in soap and hot water. This thing was literally enormous compared to the usual ants. I think a day after that, the ants disappeared. And now I'm writing this almost a year later, I'll be ready for them if they decide to come back! Got 9 more stakes to go! So anyways, not sure if the ants disappeared because I killed the queen or because of the and trap. But one thing is for sure, is that it definitely works. The ants LOVE this stuff.. it's like crack to them. And it might lure the queen straight to the poison. Not sure why they would be so foolish but that seemed to be what happened. I just beat it to the punch though.

It Works...Too Fast For Me,
By The Big SP (Fremont, NE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grants 100500090 10-Count Ant Bait & Trap Stakes (Lawn & Patio)
I had 2 major problems with Grant's Ant Stakes:
1) The ants didn't seem particularly fond of it. It's probably just the variety of ant that I have, but they don't seem to flock to it. But, the reason for that probably is... 2) It killed my ants too fast. The idea is for this to get back to the colony and the queen...but the ants that got to the poison didn't make it off the counter, let alone back to the nest. It's hard to get the line going if the scouts croak before getting back home. The ants I have are very small, even for ants (about 1/16" long), so that probably isn't helping. So, it might work for your ants, but it really isn't having an impact on mine.

This item DO NOT earn any stars, because it simply DO NOT WORK. There are ant bait stations in the package, I've tried three times, never worked. Ants just go around. I threw the rest of away. DON'T waste your money!!!
